Naughty word alert!!!

Yeah, well.....

The good news is, they're slow moving when they wake up from their long winter nap.
The bad news is, they're slightly confused and think people are flowers. Do they even DO flowers?......ask me if I care......
The worser news is one decided to visit me on the patio yesterday.....while I was mindin' my own business, doing my own thing.....not bothering a soul. Just sittin' and chattin' and generally being chilled out.

THANK G-D I was chilled out when himself mentioned the wasp!
On.My.ARM.

....just walkin' around, doing its thing......being all waspy like.

I thought blowing on it while I refrained from outwardly panicking was a good plan.
Hung.On.For.Dear.Life.

Getitoffgetitoffgetitoff......

And he thought sitting still, letting it bob its rearend while it walked on my arm was a good plan?!

Oh nononono...I thought blowing harder, preparing to stupidly flick it while jumping from the swing AND DOING A DEAD RUN for the house was wiser.

I executed my plan.

And today--I'm executing the one who said "It's just a little wasp......"

Today's Thought

We're students of life and we'll encounter many teachers.
From some, we will learn patience; from others, tolerance and acceptance.
A few will make us laugh.
All will change us in some way.
We may be apt to pass judgment on the interactions we have with others, but those with more wisdom than ourselves remind us that we can learn.
In fact, we are privileged to learn something of value in absolutely every interaction.
Our teachers are all around us.

I will accept that every person is my teacher today. I may be in for many surprising lessons!

Remember.......

Today's Thought

What promise can you make to yourself today? What promise can you make to yourself, and keep?
You have made, and will continue to make, all sorts of commitments to others. If those commitments are to have any value, you must also be committed to yourself.

It's not the least bit selfish to be committed to yourself. Because being your absolute best, is what enables you to be of service to others.

Things that make me happy

....patio swings!! :-)

....bitty violets in a bitty vase.

....hearing "can you take the bug again?".

....freshly tilled earth.

....the packets of flower seeds on the counter.

....brightly coloured Easter Eggs.

....distant thunder.

....easterly winds that blow leaves into the neighbors yard. *laughing*

What if we knew for certain that everything we're worried about today will work out fine?

What if . . . we had a guarantee that the problem bothering us would be worked out in the most perfect way, and at the best possible time? Furthermore, what if we knew that three years from now we'd be grateful for that problem, and its solution?

What if . . . we knew that even our worst fear would work out for the best?

What if . . . we had a guarantee that everything that's happening, and has happened, in our life was meant to be, planned just for us, and in our best interest?

What if . . . we had a guarantee that the people we love are experiencing exactly what they need in order to become who they're intended to become? Further, what if we had a guarantee that others can be responsible for themselves, and we don't have to control or take responsibility for them?

What if . . . we knew the future was going to be good, and we would have an abundance of resources and guidance to handle whatever comes our way?

What if . . . we knew everything was okay, and we didn't have to worry about a thing? What would we do then?

We'd be free to let go and enjoy life.

Today, I will know that I don't have to worry about anything. If I do worry, I will do it with the understanding that I am choosing to worry, and it is not necessary.

Yeah, I watch birdies.....

And this--is Harry. Harry is a wee little downy woodpeckery fella.
Ain't he cute? :-)
Now this.....is NOT Harry. Kinda looks like Harry....even kinda acts like Harry.
It ain't Harry. Harry's a wee little fella...
And this fella......is definitely not a wee little downy woodpeckery fella.

Furthermore--(dang......) Neither of 'em are 'fellas'...... Shoot-- Harry is really Sally!

And the not Harry that's really not Sally....is....just BIG.

Maybe I'll call her------

*thinking!!!*
(I'll come up with somethin'.....)

Today's Reading

We overlook so many joys, so many hidden treasures, when we hurry from place to place, person to person, experience to experience, with little attention anywhere. All that matters passes before us now, at this moment. And assuredly, we will not pass this way again.

It has been said the greatest gift we can give one another is rapt attention; additionally, living life fully attentive to the breezes, the colors, the sorrows and the thrills as well, is the most prayerful response any of us can make in this life. Nothing more is asked of us. Nothing less is expected.

We have just this one life to live, and each day is a blessing. Even the trials we shall understand as blessings in the months, the years ahead, as we can see now how the painful moments of the past played their part. Our attitude toward the lessons life has offered makes all the difference in the world.

I will look closely at everything in my path today. The women and children, the trees and squirrels, the silent neighbors.... I will never see them again as I see them today. I will be at attention.

UH oh.......

It's hailing. I know it won't last long--but it's hailing nonetheless.

I've forgotten.
Winter comes, things get different....and I forget what it's like to have storms passing through, doing what storms do.

I thought about that last night--when the alarms were going off, the clouds where boiling and rolling through, and that sudden surge of energy that comes to me in the midst of the storm...came.
I checked windows, I stepped out to the patio and checked the sky--moved the Jeep cuz of that funny yellow-greenish-gray sky colour you learn to pay attention to.....

And the storm alert went crazy.
Oh, nothing serious--but it's kindly enough to tell me to pay attention even if it's a bit a thunder and wind....

And it did storm.
Hail happened. It's nice to know I didn't lose that 'sense' of "UH oh....." that comes when it all starts to turn.

G-d gave me some good 'intuitive knowledge'. I was pacing back and forth, watching the skies before that storm alert went nuts with its incessant alarm that sounds like an English police car on a hot chase.

Funny, that 'storm sense' I have--it's that same "UH oh" I get when lifestorms happen.

Only the alarm is a much more personal one that only I get to 'hear'.

They're goin' off all over the place.......

......but much unlike the storm alert that sits on the aged oak stand, this one has no 'play' switch that pinpoints the storm's activity.....

And I just get to pace and look ........and watch as it rolls in to do what lifestorms do.......

(yeah.....I know..... I DO pay attention to the reading fairies......sometimes.....)

QOTW 4/5/10

What are three things you need to do today?

Time sheets. I so love doing time sheets. (can you hear the sarcasm?!)
It means tracking some people down--yes, they're due the same time every two weeks. Yes, there'll be half finished ones--yes, it's other peoples responsibility to turn them in completed and ON TIME. Sheesh.... G'head--ask if mine's done....

Feed the cats.
No, I don't have cats.
I don't even LIKE cats.
But I'm house/cat sitting for a neighbor who's out of town for a week.
Feed the stupid cats......and warn 'em if they even LOOK like they wanna rub against my legs again..... Stupid cats.......

Locate some cooler tops.
Yeah, well.....that's the lazy solution and that's the one I'm entertaining.
I'm not all about switching out the winter clothes for summer clothes yet--it's 'inbetween' weather still. But I can't rightly be shoving up sleeves and tugging on collars and calling it good to go forever, now can I......

Thought for the Day

Let fears slip away. Release any negative, limiting, or self-defeating beliefs buried in your subconscious too. These beliefs may be about life, love, or yourself. Beliefs create reality.

Let go. From as deep within as your fears, resentments, and negative beliefs are stored, let them all go. Let the belief or feeling surface. Accept it; surrender to it. Feel the discomfort or unrest. Then let it go. Let new beliefs replace the old. Let peace and joy and love replace fear.

Give yourself and your body permission to let go of fears, resentments, and negative beliefs. Release that which is no longer useful. Trust that you are being healed and prepared for receiving what is good.

Today, God, help me become willing to let go of old beliefs and feelings that may be hurting me. Gently take them from me and replace them with new beliefs and feelings. I do deserve the best life and love has to offer. Help me believe that.

Here's hoping......

.....you had a goodie filled day!

:-)

TFTD

It's human of us to find fault--to have expectations that are too high. But for this we pay a price. Instead of experiencing our lives serenely, contentedly, flowing with what is, we often criticize, judge, and feel generally disgruntled throughout the day. What a waste! We do have another choice, fortunately. We can let go and let God, and live and let live. Also we can recall, today and every day that we are all special individuals in this world who are loved, fully, by our Creator.

The greatest contribution we can make to the lives of others is to be affirming. We can let our spouse, children, and friends know we care about them. That we love and accept them. The love that we also long for will come back to us. We thrill at being affirmed. And we will thrill at affirming.

It feels good to help another feel appreciated. Love and acceptance is my lifeline, from God around us all.

C'mere little fella........

Do ya see 'im, do ya see 'im?!

(I get a tad excited about the 'regulars' to our yard...)

Of course himself didn't see him.
And it was the middle of winter according to himself....so in he went and out I stayed.
YES--the patio swing is up!! Woooohooooo!!!!
It's HERE!! It's HERE!!

I even did a call with my sister on the patio.

She warned me that the new renters on the block might be a tad alarmed if they look out the window to see me carrying on conversations with invisible people.

Pshaw--I'm chatting with visible critters!
Well....mostly visible--at least to those of us who remain in the 58 degree weather to coax 'em out with "C'mere little fella---c'mere!!".

They'll figure it out.
Or--I'll get lunch at the hospital when they come to cart me away. LOL

Ah well....

Yup. Life's good!
The patio swing is ON the patio.
And Frank, the ground squirrel--is BACK!

:-)

Today's Fairy Reminder

Often, when we are pointing a finger at others, waiting for them to have compassion for us, its because we have not fully accepted our pain. We have not yet reached a point in caring about ourselves. We are hoping for awareness in another that we have not yet had.

It is our job to have compassion for ourselves. When we do, we have taken the first step toward removing ourselves as victims. We are on the way to self-responsibility, self-care, and change.

Today, I will not wait for others to see and care; I will take responsibility for being aware of my pain and problems, and caring about myself.

The need for prayer.....

It's late and I'm just off the phone.

I don't particularly like talking on the phone--and I didn't particularly like the conversation.
No. I didn't like the conversation... .....just say how it is, Mel.

And now I need to have another conversation....with a daughter who's not spoken to her mother in months by choice, because of anger unresolved.
I have the number and I'll pause and talk with The Big Guy more than once before making the call tomorrow morning, I'm sure.

I do not like cancer.
I can't find anything I like about it.
I gleaned some things from getting to survive to this side for today.
Those things I'm grateful for.
But I do not like it.
I don't like the disease. I don't like how it permeates into the lives of others and those who love them--even when they're angry......

They'll have to take it out to stage it and decide the course of treatment. But it's aggressive--and it appears to be wrapped around the thyroid, parathyroid and nodes. Do nothing and it's a six month sentence--at best.
Do the surgery and the radio iodine and the chemotherapy--it'll be a process with no guarantees....

Six months could be gracious--with or without medical intervention.....

This I'll get to tell a young woman who'll need to make some of her own choices.

I do not know what's best for me.
I do not profess to know what's best for anyone.

I just need to pray.......

Dust....

There is more than enough available to you already.
Instead of striving toward what's next, make the most of what's now.

OH yeah!

Cuz if some is good--more is better. :-)

Today's Reading

Looking for the good in others is good for one's soul. Self-respect, self-love grows each time we openly acknowledge another's admirable qualities.
It is a spiritual truth that our love for and praise of others will improve our own self-image. It will rub off on us, so-to-speak. An improved self-image diminishes whatever bad qualities one has imagined.

Praise softens. Criticism hardens. We can become all that we want to become. We can draw the love of others to us as we more willingly offer love and praise. We have an opportunity to help one another as we help ourselves grow in the self-love that is so necessary to the successful living of each day.

I will see the good points in others today. And I will give praise
.
