*coughcoughcoughcough* *sigh*
- Anti-biotic number two (seems number one was a disappointment to the doc)
- cough syrup expectorant with drug stuff in it
- cough suppressant without drug stuff in it
- inhaler number one
- inhaler number two
- steriods
Yeah, well......I was all dressed up and ready for work.
At least this time I actually DID my hair instead of just yanking it back and saying 'pffffffft' to the whole works?
She did tell me I 'looked better'.
She also had to give me different directions.....cuz I followed the other ones, apparently.
"How many times have you used the inhaler?"
3........4 maybe.
"A day? Good."
Ummm......no.....in total since Monday? *coughcough*
"3-4 times a day as needed, right?"
Figured I only 'needed' it three.......four times, maybe?
"Let's try that again--you NEED it four times a day."
Ah....k.......got it! *coughcoughcoughcough*
"And how do you feel about steriods? I think we ought to use those over the long weekend."
No plan to compete in Olymic horseshoes--I'm good with steriods then.
"And a different antibiotic--I'm disappointed you're still running a temperature."
I am?
"You are."
But I feel BETTER than Monday. *coughcoughcoughcoughcough*
"And let's do another breathing treatment while I'm calling in the order."
Seriously...... Seriously? I feel better. *coughcough*
"You look better--but that cough needs to be gone. And you're still pretty tight."
*coughcoughcoughcoughcoughcough*
"And you're using the cough syrup?"
*nodding*
"Four times a day?"
.......as needed?
"You NEED it four times a day....And are you getting sleep?"
When I'm not coughing. Do NOT take expectorant at bed time--bad plan.....*coughcoughcough*
"And I'll order you up a suppressant for bedtime."
Bedtime. NOT four times during the night.....
She laughed.
And then she told me she'd see me on Tuesday..... "No problems missing work until Tuesday, right?"
*coughcoughcoughcoughcough*
"Good girl!"
*coughcoughcoughcoughscowlcoughcoughcough*
HAPPY Triffid
k.....not strange for this household. I pet my outside plants. (don't ask....)
And this is after just 25 DAYS. Holy cow.....
Oh. And just for the record--himself transplanted Triffid (on my suggestion....taken seriously when the wee pot he had Triffid is was found on its side rollin' around the patio one windy afternoon..LOL) on the very same day the neighbor put his 2 tomato plants in his garden.
NOT that it matters......but himself's Triffid has 11 tomatoes started and a bazillion blossoms.
The neighbor (whose plant came WITH a tomato on it) has three on one plant and a whopping one on the other.
Himself was a bit discouraged until I scoped out the goods and informed him that Triffid was wayyyyyyyyyyy ahead of the game. We have a happy tomato plant with all the company and conversation. The poor neglected neighbor's plants that sit allllllll alone in that big, lonely garden... .....notsomuch...... Poor things......
k......those were just three of the creative interventions to the healthy competition goin' on here.
Fairy Dust

We can let ourselves go a little now and then. We can loosen up a bit. We don't have to be so stiff and rigid, so frightened about being who we are. Take some risks. Try some new activities. What would we like to do? What might we enjoy doing? Then, take another risk. Pick out a movie we'd like to see; call a friend, and invite him or her to go along. If that person says no, try someone else, or try again another time.

*sigh*
And tomorrow I get to see the doc again.
She better let me go back to work!!
k.....or else.
Or else--
Ummmm....
I've got some time--I can come up with an 'or else'!
*thinking*

Today's Thought
To have one's individuality completely ignored is like being pushed quite out of life. Like being blown out as one blows out a light. --Evelyn ScottWe need evidence that others are aware of our presence.
And thus, we can be certain that others need the same attention from us.
When we give it, we get it.
So the giving of attention to another searching soul meets our own need for attention as well.
And we help one another grow, in important ways, each time we pay the compliment of acknowledgment.
We're not sure, on occasion, just what we have to offer our friends, families, co-workers.
Why we are in certain circumstances may have us baffled, but it's quite probably that the people we associate with regularly need something we can give them; the reverse is just as likely.
It takes careful listening and close observation to sense the message another soul may be sending to our own.

oy gevalt.....
1 breathing treatment and threats of a second
2 chest xrays
3 vials of blood
AND the verdict is--acute bronchitus.
Ruled out pnemonia for this moment in time, thankyouverymuch.
Yeah well.....Great fun.
Well, not so great fun for the immune deficient person--especially when accompanied by a not so nice infection of the upper respiratory type.
Good news is I have drugs up the whazoo.
Bad news--I have drugs up the whazoo.
And I got a 'no workie until after Thursday's 10:15 appointment' verdict.
Very funny nurse.
(Yes. She's still breathing.)
I, on the other hand, am still having difficulties in that department.
But (!!!) I have drugs for that......

Things that make me happy
....watching the 'all that and a bag of chips' kiddo scream "OMG WORMS!!!!!!" and throw the trowel full of dirt and hop around like a scared rabbit. *snickering*
....being serenaded by the attorney 'neighbor' who sings with THE most lovely baritone voice WHILE you're weeding with a worm phobic kiddo.
....greeting a newly assigned social worker who stopped to watch us work--with dirty hands and a muddy butt. *laughing*
....hearing "How about if I bring in some mulch--wow, you're doing a great job!" from the landlord of the property.
....suddenly having six volunteer kiddos who WANT to weed the flowerbed. *snickering* (same kiddos who 'passed' two hours earlier, mindyou)
....answering the cell phone call with 'Sorry--can't talk now.....muddy hands and butt!'.
....surveying a freshly weeded flowerbed and hearing the worm phobic 'all that and a bag of chips' kiddo say "We done GOOD!!"

Yup--one of those......
Yaknow.....one of 'those'.....
I listen to himself fall apart on a daily basis. His joints. His headaches--allergies. (welcome to the midwest....*sigh*) The heat. (I'm the one with hot-flashes....*shaking head*) Seriously--he thinks 78 is hot?!
And I need to stop this mental 'stuff' that runs through my head.
Last weeks sore ribs--pretty sure I snapped one with the shoveling I was doing when we were edging the sidewalk. Sure felt like the *pop* that comes with displacement or fracture. Not the smartest think I've ever done, that's for sure.
Fallin' apart, I tell ya....
Sheesh.
I'm figuring all that coughing that came with the upper respiratory made 'em ripe for the undoing.
Dunno......
What I DO know is (excuse my candidness here.....) underwire bras--a definite 'no-no'. NOT that they ever shoulda been a 'yes-yes!'...
I have more aches than I want.
And more complaints that I care to air.
So I don't. *laughing*
'Cept maybe I do when I whip off the stupid underwire and announce they're the work of the devil and fling 'em into the oblivion of the bedroom?
Wellllll....
They COULD be the work of the devil.....
Ya never know!
Just sayin'......

Reading for The Day

Excessive pride in "being able to handle everything," for example, may result in our taking on other people's responsibilities. In "taking over," we often lessen another's desire to meet his or her own obligations.
A boastful "I'll do it myself!" attitude can also mask a desperate feeling of inadequacy. Having a constant drive to prove our worth to others, we may trample on, or ignore, the needs of those around us who are just as eager to exhibit their competency and worth.
What are some other examples of virtues becoming vices?
Determination, to excess, becomes obstinacy and stubbornness. Honesty, when misdirected, is synonymous with gossip and slander. Sympathy and concern, overdone, can cripple and smother.
TODAY I will make a list of ten of my strengths and weaknesses. How has acting on each of these virtues and vices created joy or sorrow in my life? I will be aware that my strengths can be my worst enemies if I abuse them.

Fairy Reading

Often, we deny that we have done anything that requires forgiveness. Nothing scares a human being more than the acknowledgment of wrongdoing. We have been convinced that to commit a wrong is bad. Who wants to be bad? You get spanked for being bad. You can get hurt for being bad. Some of us even believe that if you are bad enough, you cannot be forgiven.
The truth is, the things we call wrong or bad are actually our cries for correction. The way to correction is through the acknowledgment of the truth. The way the Spirit of love and life corrects the spirit of human beings is through forgiveness.
When you are willing to acknowledge that you can do better, you become willing to admit to yourself those things for which you need to be forgiven.
Until today, you may have resisted acknowledging those things about you which you know require some correction. Just for today, acknowledge them to yourself. Forgive yourself for them. Then, ask forgiveness from anyone else who may have been involved.

Today's Fairy Reading

This may take some sorting through, especially if we have functioned for years on distorted notions about our responsibilities to others. We may be responsible to one person as a friend or as an employee; to another person, we're responsible as an employer or as a spouse. With each person, we have certain responsibilities. When we tend to those true responsibilities, we'll find balance in our life.
We are also learning that while others aren't responsible for us, they are accountable to us in certain ways.
We can learn to discern our true responsibilities for ourselves, and to others. We can allow others to be responsible for themselves and expect them to be appropriately responsible to us.
We'll need to be gentle with ourselves while we learn.

Oy......
BOY howdy do they know it.
Don't bother trying to justify, rationalize or make excuses for doing what I directly told you NOT to do. Putting a bow on it and calling it something other than the manipulative crap it is, doesn't make it NOT manipulative CRAP that I told you NOT TO DO.
YES. I'm PISSED OFF.
I can love ya dearly--and still be pissed off.
Next topic.
And when I was told it wasn't two people, but all THREE that did what I told them NOT to do--
I appreciate you letting me know that.
Meeting ENDED.
Do people know when I'm mad....oh yeah.....
I've taken multiple walks.
I've said what I need to say.
Now I'll get to let it go.

Back to basics
I don't always know how I got 'here', but that's irrelevant--that will reveal itself at some point.
But I can guess--though the guessing is a waste of precious time.
Let it go, Mel.
Opened hands, Mel.
TODAY, Mel....
Sometimes I awaken to truths about others that scream truth about Mel.
Yup.
That's not an all bad thing.
Opened hands, Mel.
Let it GO, Mel.
