Today's Thinking Material brought to you by the Reading Fairies

Self-righteousness is a loud din raised to drown the voice of guilt within us.--Eric Hoffer

A holier-than-thou attitude within us is often a sign of unconscious dishonesty.
Who hasn't had the feeling of being superior to the angry outburst or the near slip of another person - and then found ourself in the very same spot the next day?
What we least want to admit about ourselves is what we are most likely to feel self-righteous about.
The person we feel most self-righteous toward may be the person we could learn the most from. When we stop focusing on them, we may notice they touch our most sensitive area.

We're all creatures of God and equals in God's sight.
The ways we create inequality are the ways we fall short of God's wisdom.
I will use my self-righteous feelings to point me to my own blind spots.

Captured Memory

.......when what you know gets shaken, not stirred....

It's Fuzzy Thursday--a not so brilliant day to try to make fingers meet the keyboard.

But here I sit.
Trying to piece together what I know.
And that's a task and a half.

I know I have a G-d who loves me and has a purpose for my life.
I know I 'get to' be in the lives of others.
I know I'm tired and my body is 'eating itself'.
I know I'm malnourished.
I know everything's 'off'.
I know I don't think very fast on my feet.
I know I don't think very fast off my feet.

And THAT'S what I know.

It's all 'off'.
Ya know, that 'feeling' you get.....you reach for something 'over there' and discover it's 6" further 'over there' than what you figured in the first place.
'Cept everything's 'over there'.....and it's 8" as opposed to the normal 6.

Keys on the keyboard (can't tell ya how many times I've had to backspace) , coffee cups (knocked it over once already.....)........relationships....

Himself just talked to me, laughing about something funny he read somewhere (dunno......lost that bit of info cuz it's fallen out of my brain already.....) and reminded me "oh, c'mon.....that's funny!".

Nope.

It wasn't....

........cuz I'm six inches off............plus two.

Today's Thought......

Trust yourself.

Trust what you know.

Sometimes, it is hard to stand in our own truth and trust what we know, especially when others would try to convince us otherwise.
In these cases, others may be dealing with issues of guilt and shame.
They may have their own agenda.
They may be immersed in denial.
They would like us to believe that we do not know what we know; they would like us not to trust ourselves; they would prefer to engage us in their nonsense.
We don't have to forfeit our truth or our power to others.

Believing lies is dangerous.
When we stop trusting our truth, when we repress our instincts, when we tell ourselves there must be something wrong with us for feeling what we feel or believing what we believe, we deal a deadly blow to our self and our health.
When we discount that important part of ourselves that knows what is the truth, we cut ourselves off from our center.
We feel crazy.
We get into shame, fear, and confusion.
We can't get our bearings when we allow someone to pull the rug from under us.

This does not mean that we are never wrong.
But we are not always wrong.

Be open.
Stand in your truth.
Trust what you know.
And refuse to buy into denial, nonsense, bullying, or coercion that would like to take you off course.

Leaf littered

TFTD

Any task before us is lessened when we carry love with us.

Love is more powerful than fear.

Love helps to open the channel, assures us of the strength, the understanding, and the patience needed to complete any assignment confronting us.

A piece of peace

Things that make me happy

....the smell of fresh baked bread. (no! I am NOT whining....very much....)

k--lemme start over......

....the landing of a whirling leaf.

....the smell of a wood fire burning.

....eagles.

....funny eyeballs peeking out from under the porch steps.

....watching himself pull out slimey punkin guts with his bare hands.

....jack-o-lanterns.

....waiting for a surprise package to reach its destination.

....old, comfy, broken in levi's.

And the smell of freshly baked bread too, dangit!

Anti-procrastination Fairy.....

The only cure for procrastination is action.
Go beyond wishing, dreaming, considering, debating the options and get busy making it happen.

Yes, it's going to be a little uncomfortable, it's going to involve effort, it's going to require commitment, and you're going to run into difficult challenges.
So ask yourself -- do you intend to make it happen or would you rather put it off again and again so that it never gets done?

Give yourself the choice between doing it now or doing it never, and you'll be much more likely to do it now, if it's truly important to you.
This moment right now is loaded with great value.
You can choose to take action, and make that value your own, or you can choose to do nothing and forever leave this moment's treasure behind.

NFW!!!!!

k........I'm irritated.
No.

Lemme say that differently.
I'm pissed off.

There's so few things that I really, truly enjoy eating.....
Good, crusty bread is one of 'em.
And I love pasta.
OMGosh do I love pasta.

And today doc talked with me about eliminating both of those from my diet.

'Cuse me?

Yup. Lay off the gluten.
k...what in the hell is gluten?!
Oh....it's that 'stuff' that's in wheat flour that's creating a problem with my ability to absorb nutrients into my body. It's that 'stuff' that's apparently messin' with my system and has helped to create a weight loss that's scared even me.

"Your body is eating itself" says the good doc.

THAT really pissed me off.

*sigh*

So, I get to figure out how to do a different diet.
NOT that I'm prone to eating whole bunches of anything right now.
But pasta and breads?
Wheat products of any kind?

Oh.....no worries....I can have all the rice and veggies I could possibly want for!
*sigh*

k.......
I wanted an answer to the problem!
They're saying this is potentially the problem --and this is the solution for that.

I wanted a pill to fix it.

THIS........is a bitter one to swallow........

Fine.
I'll DO different.
But I ain't gonna like it.

OMG.......no breads or pasta!!!

k.....
I can do this.
I can.
Even if I don't wanna.....I can.......

Thought for Today......

Out of necessity, you often focus on the things in your life that are not working as well as you'd like them to be.
It pays to also consider, appreciate and celebrate the vastly large number of things that are working just great.

Occasionally you'll turn the key in the ignition and your car won't start, causing hassles, frustration and delays.
Yet how very many more times do you have cause to be thankful when you turn the key, the car starts right up, and you drive quickly and safely to your destination?

The problems and the pains may at times seem to be overwhelming.
Keep in mind though, that the only reason you notice them at all is because they are so relatively rare.
The news each day may appear to be all bad news.
However, what qualifies anything to be news is the fact that it is highly unusual.

In the normal course of life, there are so very many things which work just fine that you only notice a small fraction of them all.
Open your awareness to more of them.
Seek to be more genuinely thankful for them.

Celebrate what's working in your life and in your world, and those few things that are not working will find their rightful significance.
Celebrate what's working, and it will increasingly work even better for you.

A piece of the whole

Hold on to your hats!

The gusts are upwards from 50-60 mph and the little town next to us has lost power--tree branches, no doubt.

We have chili in the crockpot made my 'she who must be obeyed'. :-)

And Studley is safely tucked inside the garage.
Himself was afraid he'd get torn and didn't want me sad.
Gosh, he's sweeter than sweet....

I, on the other hand, am gonna calm myself down from driving back in that mess after a meeting and get togethers with a couple pigeons.
Whipping across open fields, those gusts present you with all kindsa interesting moments.

I'm gonna hope for the power to stay on....mostly cuz I'm REALLY looking forward to that first of the season bowl of chili. :-)

Maybe a good book?

AND a good cuppa java, of course!!!

Sleeping with Bread.......

Connectedness....that sense of being included in the heart of what matters with something/someone....

There's been a 'disconnect' that's been happening with me.
I don't much like it.

My center is off.
My sense of security is threatened.
My intuitive knowing suddenly has to be searched for.....

I know I've complained and whined and kvetched and carried on about the toll of this physical 'stuff' I'm getting to go through.
I want to blame all of the 'disconnectedness' on being weary -- on being sick and tired of being sick and tired.....
The truth is, I've been sicker and I've been tiredER......and I managed to keep a connectedness that's carried me through some icky, awful times.
I'm not particularly feeling/thinking this is the ickiest of times I've ever experienced in my lifetime, but for some reason I've grabbed the excuse and wrapped myself in it.
I must be somewhat comfy with the decision.
I'm still doing it.

That sense of 'disconnect' will NOT serve me.
Intellectually, I know this.
I just cannot, for whatever reason, seem to be able to MAKE myself move past it.
The payoff for being 'here' must be working for me.
Elsewise I still wouldn't be 'here'.

My time of 'connectedness' showed up yesterday.
I didn't invite it. I didn't go looking for it.
In fact, I went almost begrudgingly to the park and wandered down the hiking trail out of boredom, not out of a pressing need to find what I intellectually knew would help me 'move'.

I stopped somewhere between where one enters the trail and the pond where the eagles hang out when they're not dining or free sailing.

It was still.
Sunlight danced around the leaf littered ground.
Echos of the wind pressed between branches.
Smells filled my head.
And 'it' left.
I wasn't pressed to 'feel' or 'think' anything.
I got a chance to just BE.

There was a nothingness to the space.
No worries.
No responsibilities.
No hassles.
No noise inside my head nagging at me for what I was or wasn't doing...no whirling about on the matters of what life was or wasn't handing me....

And for a moment I got filled with something different.

I thought enough to look up and thank Him for that one.

And I got up.
I made it to the pond where the eagles rested -- and I became a space invader.

All it took was to step from the woods.

Their rest was disturbed.
Their comfy place to just 'BE'....was invaded by the 'could be' threat......Me.
Oh, I wish I could be full of that kind of grace when I'm 'disturbed'....

And that's the whole of my situation.
The eagles showed me clearly, the disruption is ME.

I didn't need today's examen.
I knew it yesterday.
I knew it the day before, the day before that and the day before THAT.
I've known it, in my head and in my heart for quite some time.

What it will take to move me, I do not know.
What I do know is what I fear....because I KNOW me.

When I consciously choose to keep doing what doesn't work--it's for a reason. When I 'disconnect' it's purposeful and it's to distance myself from the 'higher good'.
It's me trying to justify doing the unjustifiable someplace, somewhere, with someone.
It's a feeble attempt to do what ought not be done.

It's an excuse to do what I want to do because I feel some 'right' to do it.

Entitlement.....
That damnable sense of entitlement.....

That's what I'm connected to.

Today's Reminder......

Of all the days that have ever been and of all the days to come, today is the one you now have.
Though it may not be perfect, it is here, it is now, and it is the one day that is available to you.

On this day you live in a world filled with beauty.
Take the opportunity to see and appreciate some of that beauty.
On this day there are precious moments ready to be filled with joy and meaning.
Live today's moments so as to add real and lasting value to your life and your world.

Spend some time focusing your thoughts on what's right with this day.
Allow yourself to feel the goodness that is present right now.
Remind yourself of all that you have to be thankful for on this day.
Possibility, opportunity, value, goodness, love and fulfillment are all here and now on this day.
Bring them to life.

SIXmoredaysSixmoredays!!!!!

Yeah.......well.....

It's not like I'm countin' or anything.....
(SIX MORE DAYS!!!!!!)

It was a whoppin' 37 degrees this morning when I checked--cuz the rumour was that we mightoughtawanna go to the pumpkin patch before all the goods one were taken!!!!

Yeah, well.....that's how I sortakindamostly 'suggested' it to himself....

PUMPKINS!!!!!!

Oh BOY were there pumpkins!

And the gooder news--the gal assured us that she had a bumper crop thanks to all the moisture we had this growing season.

They had wee bitty pumpkins--of which we got a BUNCH! (yeah, yeah.....they'll be great for Thanksgiving decorating, too.... *snickering* How do ya think I ended up with a bunch of 'em..LOL)
And bumpy, stripey awesome gordy guys that ALL wanted to come home with me.
k.....I had a limit set when I sortakindamighta wanted to take more than a few home with us....
AND there were army punkins!

Well, they LOOKED like army punkins.......
And squashey fellas.

How COULD ya eat 'em?! Poor things....
And PUMPKINS!!!

LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of pumpkins!

Yeah, yeah......

I'da taken pictures of the REALLY big guys, but I was a tad busy trying to decide which one wanted to come home to be our jack-o-lantern.

True to my decisive nature, I couldn't decide which one.

So......
I decided which four.
Yup......one for me......one for me........one for himself.....and......one for ME!

k....greedy, huh?
Fine.
One for me.
One for him.
Right!

(........and two more for me.)
*nodding*

:-D

I got a prezzie in the mail!!!!!!

Yup!
From a sister who loves me beyond, beyond!!!

It's too cute.
And she tells me she didn't exactly follow the scrappy booky instructor's instructions.
Obviously she was thinkin' of me when she made it, huh?
:-)
Gosh.
You'd think she knows I like Halloween.......
:-D
