*sigh*
No grand plans for me.
It's another day spent staying on top of a new process for work that keeps changing faster than I can keep up.
I LOVE folks who break it to ya gently at 4:49pm on a Friday evening JUST as they're heading out the door for their weekend.
Of course it's not affecting them...they're outta there and gone for two days, enjoying the blue sky weekend. (k...that's an assumption)
I do know how it affect me and mine.
Ain't happy...but, oh well--my happiness isn't required, just my cooperation.
So!
More of the same today--track, compare, chase. I LOVE the end of the month!
NOT.
*sigh*
Ah well...inbetween chasings I can check out the patio for critters?
Yeah....well.....good in theory anyway......

Another Reading for Today

The beauty of our souls shines in many ways. The greatest of these is love.
In the spirit of loving kindness, every day a little ugliness is removed; our perspective on life grows broader and deeper.
In the spirit of love, our lives become fresher, our souls humbler; evil seems to disappear, and we learn to distinguish sinner from the sin.
Do I see the good in people?

Fairy Reading

There are some things we believe we have forgotten and others we choose not to remember. The truth is, these are one and the same. When we are not ready to face a situation, or if we believe it is unimportant, we put it out of our minds. We call it forgetting. A better choice of words would be, we choose not to remember it. The choice may be conscious or unconscious, but it is a choice.
Forgetting is a defense mechanism we use to eliminate or avoid pain. It is an escape route we use when we fail to honor our commitments. At times, we choose to forget in an effort to protect or defend ourselves from those things and people that drain our energy. In some cases, we choose to forget to protect someone else. Whatever we choose to call it or whenever we do it, chances are the things we forget are also the things we want to avoid.
It is quite common to get caught up in doing something to the point of forgetting you have made a commitment to do something else. It is more common that you rarely forget the things that are important to you. When you are stressed or pressured, you are likely to forget. The question is, why are you pushing yourself? Is it possible that you are keeping yourself so busy to avoid thinking about the things you really want to forget? Yes, to forget is human, but it is not divine. The truth is, we are too Divine to forget. You also have the divine power to move through all the things you would rather not remember.

Fairy Reminder

Focusing our attention incessantly on matters that disturb us, keeps us disturbed. And our obsession with our problems leaves no room for their solutions. However, we are only powerless in the face of difficulties if we choose to be. We are always free to search for the good, which is lost in a tangled situation. We can be certain that our progress in life is equal to our capacity to let go of our problems and move ahead with the momentum of a positive attitude.
All too frequently, we fail to recognize opportunities for growth and success because we have chosen to be trapped by circumstances that are beyond our control. We may not realize this but we are never tied to problems. Solutions are always within our grasp. However, we must let go long enough to gain a responsible perspective on the situation.

TFTD

What wonderful things could happen in my life if I could get rid of my natural impulse to justify my actions?
Is honesty so deeply repressed under layers of guilt that I can't release it to understand my motives?
Being honest with ourselves isn't easy.
It's difficult to search out why I had this or that impulse and, more importantly, why I acted upon it.
Nothing makes us feel so vulnerable as to give up the crutch of the alibi, yet my willingness to be vulnerable will go a long way toward helping me grow.

Again!!!
It's about to get ugly out there.
Yes, we're under a watch...a tornado watch.
There's already been two sightings the county above us--we're in for another storm, no doubt about that one.
Candles.
Flashlight.
Weather station--ohmygawdddddd....how many county alerts am I gonna haffta listen to?!
(I WILL reprogram the darn thing--toooooo much drama to listen to the girls, the work site, the home and the ajoining counties! ACK!!)
It's okay though. I'm happily plugging away at catching up on web logs WHILE I wait for all hell to break loose.
And trust me....it's gonna.
You can feel it.
*sigh*
At least I won't be having some gal relieve herself on my rock garden this time?
Yeah..that was Friday night.
NO, I ain't doin' that EVER again.
The frenzy to keep the 20,000 concert goer's safe OR the peein' on my rock garden.
*laughing* Thank you BIG Guy for dumping 3.5 inches of rain on that one!
k.......gonna make coffee, read more......and get ready to vacate TO the basement!
(coffee is portable, dontchaknow!)

Fairy Reading for the Day

To give and to receive are one in truth.
--A Course in Miracles
Giving our love away, honoring someone in need by giving our full attention, will usually bring kindness and concern in return. And unkindness and neglect on our part are likely to result in the same from others. We will usually elicit that which we've so thoughtfully or thoughtlessly given.
Not many elements in our life are so fully in our control as how we choose to treat other people. There are few among us who aren't moved by another's expression of pure, unconditional love. We are humbled by it and feel valued. We can honor the existence of our fellow travelers by our open, willing love for them too.
We need to feel appreciated. And yet, to express appreciation is such a simple act, one that has profound effects for all concerned. Acts of kindness multiply very quickly; we contribute to a world favoring our true humanity when we give out loving thoughts even as we receive them.

Nope....
There's no catching up. Not at work. Not at home. Not in the wonderful world of web logs....
Ain't happening.....
Of course, catching up in some places is required.
It won't happen any time soon. Leastwise that's my guess.
When you run ten people short for months and pull the job of three people and then get sick....you're behind.
YES, I'm behind.
*sigh*
I'll get there.
There's so much TO do today--that catching up on the behind stuff is a slow process.
It'll happen.
Yeah. I'll just keep telling myself that.
*sigh*
If there's one thing I don't particulary like--it's being behind on stuff.
Seems to happen frequently..but I don't like it. AT all.
k.....
Instead of kvetching, I need to take my tired self to bed.
This is the second night I've plugged away at work 'stuff' from the home--inbetween doing home stuff that I'm behind in, of course.
First things first--coffee pot cleaning!
Did THAT while I plugged away at the work stuff.
Priorities, dontchaknow. LOL

Warpspeed.....
That's what a 2 year old does. Warp speed and dead to the world. There's a bit of comotose in there prior to the dead to the world.
Hold on--that's a tad like the Nana.
Must be genetic.
It was a crazy weekend.
I've decided the girl is a menace to fair week.
Last year it was the flood when the dam broke.
This year it was hurricane like winds and rain.
I need to call the insurance agent this morning--one limb down (thankfully just a limb--two houses down two trees on the house) and one gutter damaged. Ah well....it'll get fixed.
Oh, but what a storm. HOLY cow.
I got a bit frantic--20 thousand people exiting a concert in 70mph winds, raining and lightening like crazy. I just wanted to grab 'em all and have them take shelter with us....which ended up in a small party under the carport and in the garage until it let up enough for people to get safely to their cars. The girl is soooo much like me--she's yelling at them from the front, I'm trying to snag 'em in the back. Meanwhile himself is telling me to calm down cuz he was pretty sure I was going to stroke out. LOL He didn't get it until after it passed and he saw the limbs and trees down and a gal told him she bolted for where the girl was when the limb from the tree came crashing down in front of her. Thank goodness it wasn't ON her. Bit nuts for about 40 minutes.....3.5" of rain later the wind ceased and people migrated on while I surveyed the broken pots on the patio. Poor Triffid blew over and shattered his pot--I'm hoping I can salage him today. Himself says not--but I gotta try cuz.....
Good fun, lemme tell ya.
AND we made the newspaper cuz one of the storm victims was a reporter who wrote about the kindness of strangers.
Himself things he shoulda wrote about the insanity of one woman who was rainsoaked, IN the winds and lightening, waving people to shelter and pleading with people to PLEASE get under the carport/in the garage. LOL Yep, I was more than a bit concerned.
I dried.
But boy was I scared for people.
*shaking head*
Since when?!
Ah well--guess being a 'compassionate' person means you get a bit soaked now and then.
But we had the bug and the girl and the other other boy for the weekend!
And we had LOTS of fun!
AND we found bugs....and coloured on sidewalk..AND had bubbles!!!

Today's Reading

Life has lessons to teach. We can remember them and share them with others, or we can forget them and have to learn them again.
--Jan Pishok
What we are destined to learn in this life will keep presenting itself until "contact" has been made. Each experience is a minute part of the big picture that's unfolding. We will receive the information we need, again and again if necessary. Let's give up our fear about where we are going and how we'll get there. We are in caring, capable hands. We will get to the right destination on time.

Fairy Reminder
True power, our power, is in our diversity and difference. It is not in the illusive power we chase in money and things. It is not in what we call unity. We are already unified through breath. We want to deny our unity because we look different, act different and we believe we want different things. The elk, oak and pine live together to create the mighty forests. The shark, dolphin and whales live together to create the wealth of the oceans. The blue jay, hawk and robin sing together to create the melody of the sky. The lion, elephant and jaguar live together in the wonderment of the wild. They all want the same things: food, protection for their young and the opportunity to move freely. The animals do not blame or judge. They live without anger or fear. Are the animals just stupid? Or have we become too smart?
Today I will honor and respect the power in difference.

Fairy Wisdom

In life, certain people will impersonate understanding. They will smile at you. They will assure you that everything is just fine. They will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. They may even say, "Yes! I understand!" Yet, when the moment comes for a demonstration of understanding, what you will get is misinterpretation, misrepresentation, miscommunication, and you will probably get blamed for the misunderstanding.
Certain people will impersonate compassion and concern. They will have you convinced that they have your best interests at heart. However, when the moment calls for a demonstration of compassion and concern, what you will experience is abandonment, betrayal, rejection, insensitivity, abuse and/or neglect.
Do not be alarmed! Do not be shocked! Be aware that we all have different experiences and different definitions of the same experience. What we hear, do and expect in life is always based on our own personal experiences. When we interact with others, we must understand and expect that we may not be on the same page or in the same book of experiences. Unless we take the time to gain clarity in the beginning, we may find ourselves in the company of experience imposters at the end.
Until today, you may have assumed that just because they say so, others know what you know, feel what you feel and will do what you do. Just for today, be devoted to putting forth the effort and energy required to gain clarity at the beginning of all relationships. Define your words. Identify your expectations. Clarify what you are saying and what you understand about what is being said and what is expected from you.

Today's Reading

Everybody has had someone who has "done them wrong." When someone hurts us, we want to hurt them back. We live with anger and thoughts of revenge. We want to see them suffer. We want them to feel what we have felt. We want them to know they can't get away with what they did. But they did get away if your anger keeps you stuck in the situation. When the table turns, we make mistakes, we create pain for others, and we cannot understand why they do not or cannot forgive us. Perhaps it is because there is someone we need to forgive. Forgiveness frees us from the pain of the past and moves us beyond our mistakes in the future. What you give you get. When you forgive, forgiveness is there for you if you need it.
I forgive everyone for everything, totally and unconditionally.

Things that make me happy....
Thought For The Day

How many days of the week do you spend wondering why you are not further along than you are? If thinking about it makes you angry or frustrated, you are definitely not on the right track. Exactly where is it that you believe you need to be? Why isn't where you are just fine? You can only be where you are, and it is up to you to make the best of it. You cannot get to where you are going until you have learned all there is to learn about where you are. There are always powerful, insightful, sometimes shocking things we need to know about ourselves. Those lessons are not over there. The things you need to know about you are right where you are.
While you may think you know it all, there is some reliable information about your beliefs, your doubts, your stamina and your behavior patterns right where you are sitting. Right under your nose there is something you have forgotten, neglected, resisted or denied. At your right side, or on your left side, there is a blessing that has not been acknowledged, a hurt that has not been forgiven, a skill that remains underdeveloped or a good you have yet to do. Everything and everyone that is available in the place you are in right now has something to teach you or something to give you. The reason you may have missed the lessons to be learned, or refused the gifts being offered right were you are, is you are preoccupied with where you want to be.

Fairy Reading

There are simply some things in life you are not going to be able to do anything about.
There will be those occasions when you simply cannot change what happens or how it happens.
There will be those times in your life when your hands are tied, your mind is blank, your mouth is shut and you feel totally helpless.
These are God jobs!
These are experiences of God working on you, in you, through you and for you.
Although you want to get involved, although you feel the need to do something, when God is working, your job is to be still!
There is nothing more challenging than sitting through a God job.
Yes, you will feel weak.
Yes, you may feel stupid.
Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do nor is there anything you need to do except wait.
In the midst of a God job, there is nothing you need to say.
There is no place you need to go.
There is no amount of fixing, figuring out or trying that will make what you want to happen happen the way you want it to happen.
When God is on the job, working on you, in you and for you, there is no one and nothing on the planet that can help you through what you are going through.
On a God job, the only course of action is total, undaunted, microscopic trust.
You must become a child again.
You must trust that you will be fed, that you will be changed, that you will be protected, that every need you have will be met.
It may feel like you are being passive, but the truth is, if you can trust God in the midst of a challenge, God can do more in five minutes than you could ever do in five years.

RAWR and RAWR again!!!!!
I don't know how I get in trouble....I just know I do.
Okay, THAT'S not true.
I got in trouble because my 'first reports' didn't follow protocol.
I oughta get in trouble if my people don't do what they're suppose to.
I got in trouble MULTIPLE TIMES because they didn't do what they were suppose to in an electronic system.
Yes, I'm a piece of that problem.
Yes, I'm a piece of that problem.
We hire so rarely.
Seriously........12 years ago we hired a new therapist. THAT'S how rare we hire. That's GOOD--it means we retain employees.
Bad cuz it means protocol gets established, people 'yes yes' it cuz they don't figure they'll have to use it and then it falls out of their head and they don't use it.
It's my job to ensure they use it.
It's my job to ensure they use it.
And MY last hire?
Oh gosh....14 years ago?
No--wait. I hired a gal on contract three years ago.
Yep.
Suddenly you get to replace TEN STAFF and you're suppose to follow the process......only it's hit and miss cuz folks have forgotten 'zactly what that is.....and yup-- yours truly gets her arse chomped on.
I'm good with that. Better my arse than my folks' arse.
And we messed things up. No doubt about that one.

But honestly?
I DON'T HAVE MUCH OF AN ARSE TO BEGIN WITH.
Could ya LEAVE a bit for cushioning purposes PLEASE?!
Could ya LEAVE a bit for cushioning purposes PLEASE?!
*sigh*
I hate being in trouble....
And seriously--4, maybe 5 weeks ago I babbled incessantly to the boss and he says 'you'll just get to be late on some things' and told me to stop overextending myself.
Today I get-- 'We need to connect daily to ensure your timeliness on these things'.

<-- starting to feel NUTZ
k......

NUTZ without an arse=NO FUN
I am NOT having fun.
And no, I'm not excusing the messes created.
Troubles of my own making.
I created messes. My folks created messes.....
The end.
Not my ARSE "the end"--that's darn near chewed all the way gone, tyvm.
Fairy Wisdom

Don't miss out on today's learning experiences.
They won't come again. We will never have another day exactly like today, so let's take advantage of the lessons we're offered.
We don't like to make mistakes, and we don't like to be in situations that are fraught with stress, but mistakes and distress seem to go along with being human and alive. Both can be turned into sound learning experiences.
We don't learn if we try to deny or ignore the situation we don't like or don't handle well. How much better if we can accept the difficulty, see how we have contributed to it, and arrive at a positive course of action. And how often it helps to talk about the problem with someone else instead of pridefully insisting on muddling through alone. Very likely, we will discover that today's richest learning experiences are those we share with others.

Beetle lace

Yup--we've been visited by the dreaded japanese beetle. Happens. We DO live in farm country.
Yeah....well......
The neighbor fella was kind enough to put out a bag that attracts and kills them. It's suppose to cover an acre or two.
Uh huh....
Unfortunately, it attracks...and might get around to killing them IF they decide to fall into the bag.
And those it doesn't kill and are smart enough to not fall in the bag.....--have been munching on my tree!
Ohhhh....they've been hungry little fellas. Almost the whole top of it. Not exactly what I had in mind for the little ugly bugs.
Now, the good news is the neighbor fella decided to pull the trap and see if they'd done their job.
Uh huh....his beans are good to go. And they're not even wanting to munch on my bugglia's.
Why would they wanna?! They've got their little beetle bellies full from MY maple leafs.
*sigh*
Now, the rumor is they won't KILL the tree. (which himself is a bit sore about--he's been trying to convince me AND the neighbor to get rid of that maple for a few years now)
LOOKS ratty as heck....but apparently won't kill it.
*sigh*
*sigh*
I guess I know why the darn things are leaving my bugglia's alone.
I guess I can suggest to the neighbor that he not bother with the traps and stick with the ol' fashioned powdery stuff on his beans.....and me on the bugglia's......and every other plant that looks yummy to the darn things.
I guess I can suggest to the neighbor that he not bother with the traps and stick with the ol' fashioned powdery stuff on his beans.....and me on the bugglia's......and every other plant that looks yummy to the darn things.
*muttering*
Stupid bugs......
MY maple tree!!
Stupid bugs......
Yup....happening!!
Happens every year.......that grassy, quiet place you can walk your puppy without a leash, where you can meander at will and watch froggies at the pond--wall to wall tents and trailers and STUFF.And the quiet little town........yeah, notsomuch this morning. Already.
It's good, really.
I'll keep reminding myself that.
It's good that I'm here TO celebrate the doings, that was close to not being true.
BUT--
RAWR!!!!!!!
(let the kvetching begin.......)
Wall to wall STUFF.
Wall to wall STUFF.
The poor rescue puppy two houses down can't romp as usual.
And there are people milling around, trucks lined up to put more STUFF on to the bits of grass that haven't yet been claimed.
And if I think there are people milling around NOW.....ha.....
I tried to have coffee on the patio this morning.
And if I think there are people milling around NOW.....ha.....
I tried to have coffee on the patio this morning.
Ain't happenin'.
The good news is we're just half a block from the gate to the fairgrounds. We provide excellent parking and a great place to just 'hang' during fair week. Yup--got a grill, got a patio...got great acoustics from the stage shows...LOL We even get a good view of the wild critters that show up to entertain. (don't GO there, Mel......)
k.....I'm goin' there.....
k.....I'm goin' there.....
At least this year I don't have to be concerned about being EATEN?
Performing puppies!!!!! :-)
Drat that they won't be able to enjoy the green grass and open spaces to wander free with all that STUFF clustered back to back to back.....
Today's Reading

With the pace of change continuing to accelerate, the future is not what it used to be. From one moment to the next, no one can be certain of anything. Your job, your marriage, and your relationship to your children - none of these may be the same next year, next month, or even next week.
How does one survive this changing landscape? First, by being flexible and adaptable - ready to change course at any moment. Be prepared to "roll with the punches" and release your old attachments or current expectations.
Second, practice living one day at a time. Realize that the only thing you can really affect is how you feel this instant. By focusing on the present moment, you can continue to experience peace and joy - no matter how the outer circumstances may change.

Taking Care of Ourselves
It's healthy, wise, and loving to be considerate and responsive to the feelings and needs of others. That's different from caretaking. Caretaking is a self-defeating and, certainly, a relationship defeating behavior - a behavior that backfires and can cause us to feel resentful and victimized - because ultimately, what we feel, want, and need will come to the surface.
Some people seem to invite emotional caretaking. We can learn to refuse the invitation. We can be concerned; we can be loving, when possible; but we can place value on our own needs and feelings too. Part of taking care of ourselves means learning to pay attention to, and place importance on, what we feel, want, and need, because we begin to see that there are clear, predictable, and usually undesirable consequences when we don't.
Be patient and gentle with yourself as you learn to do this. Be understanding with yourself when you slip back into the old behavior of emotional caretaking and self-neglect.
But stop the cycle today. We do not have to feel responsible for others. We do not have to feel guilty about not feeling responsible for others. We can even learn to let ourselves feel good about taking responsibility for our needs and feelings.
Today, I will evaluate whether I've slipped into my old behavior of taking responsibility for another's feelings and needs, while neglecting my own. I will own my power, right, and responsibility to place value on myself.

Gakky Reading Fairy Schtuff

One of the attributes of love . . .
is to bring harmony and order out of chaos.
--Molly Haskell
Have we forgotten how to love in our hurried passage through life? Perhaps we need reminding that love focuses our attention and guides our direction. Our actions aren't hurried and our feelings aren't confused and unraveled when we're loving others and ourselves. Love offers form and enhancement to each moment.
When we experience the love of another, we remember our importance, and theirs, to the circle of life, and we feel encouraged, at times even impelled, to share the enchantment of love with someone new.
When the day's frantic activities crowd the heart's silent places, we must slow our pace and take notice of the loved ones in our presence, there by intent, remembering with them the design that has captured us and given meaning to our lives.
Love creates music from the disharmony of our haphazard life choices. Giving it away is like a song of happiness emerging from our hearts.

Friday....again..
It's Friday.
Funny....I have stuff from Monday that's not been completed and here is it Friday?
I don't think that's good.
And I DO think this is why I oughta be excused from stupid meetings with stupid people who get on my nerve......the only one I have left.
Another meeting today?
Why, yes thank you, I think I'd like to do that.....
OMG
What ever happened to working with kiddos and their families?!
Oh. I get to do that on the odd chance that I'm not busy going to stupid meetings with stupid people who get on my last nerve......OR if I'm not arse deep in alligators from computer work. Didn't that use to be paperwork?
I think it did......
*sigh*
I just wanna play with the kiddos.
I don't think I get to.
*sigh*
Right.
Stupid meeting with stupid people who'll get on my last nerve.
I am not a ladder climber.
I'm a human services kinda person.
Which means I'm suppose to work well with humans.
Ha.
HA!
NOT today!!!!!
Leastwise not THOSE humans.
Geeze I need to play with the kiddos.
I have a 'tude, dude!
*sigh*
Maybe I can squeeze that in before I have to go to the stupid meeting.
OH!
Maybe we can fingerpaint!!!!!!

Reading for the Day

Life guarantees a chance - not a fair shake.
--Bernie Y.
Life is not fair. Most of us know that, but few of us accept it. Something in us often clings to the idea that ultimately, the gifts will all be evenly divided. Mostly we want to be paid back for the injustices of the past. Many of us expect - no, demand - redress from fate. We think life should "make it up" to us somehow. That's why it's so hard for us to go on discovering, again and again, what we already know: Life is not fair.
The good job that should have been ours, the accident that crippled a loved one, unwanted childlessness - these things are not fair. But life is like soil, not like seed. The chance of a harvest is there, but only if we plant the seed. And even then we may not get the harvest we expected or wished for - not on our own timetable. It is an act of faith, and of great courage, to keep on sowing seeds when we don't know what we're going to get. But it's the only chance we have. We need to stop expecting the soil to provide the seed.
Today, I will be grateful to be alive. This day offers a chance for a fuller life, and I will accept what comes of my efforts.

No, it's not Halloween YET.
YES, I wore my 'the witch is IN' pin.
*chuckling*
Quite effective, actually...given the circumstances.
AND....
Since it's only 108 days til Halloween, I figured it was good timing.

Today's Thought

We should be careful to get out of an experience only the wisdom that is in it - and stay there, lest we be like the cat that sits down on a hot stove lid. She will never sit down on a hot stove lid again... but also, she will never sit down on a cold one any more.
--Mark Twain
"Last night I asked for help, but the person couldn't give it to me. Tonight I'm not going to ask because I'll be refused." Poor us! One person has rejected us, so now we've got the whole world rejecting us. We believe if one person lets us down, everyone else will too.
Such thinking, as negative as it is, can provide safety. If we believe we can't trust anymore, then we won't. But there won't be any growth in this kind of safety. By condemning everyone, we won't see those who want to help.
To find help we may have to ask several people. If a few people turn us away, we shouldn't give up hope. There are many flowers in the field of life, but to pick the best, we need to look at them all.
If I get rejected it doesn't mean I'm a bad person or no one can be trusted. It means I need to take another risk or maybe two.

PROBLEM!!!!
I will not choke the physician who changed her mind.
OTHER people might wanna...but I will not put my hands around her neck and squeeze until her little eyeballs pop out.
(yup.....witchy!!!!!!)
And when I mentioned my witchiness to the boss his response was:
Really. I couldn't tell a difference.....
And then he laughed like hell.
I don't get to choke him either.....
Thought about it, briefly.
BRIEFLY.
*sigh*
I cannot keep doing this.
Try as I might to monitor my responses to people, I've discovered that what I thought I was thinking I thought---JUST came out of my flipping mouth!
And some of it is just plain NOT NICE.
N O T .... N I C E
Oy.
Something's gotta get different.
I have that stupid meeting with those stupid people tomorrow and I know I'm going to have to pull up a chair on THAT side of the table and join them AND get beat up cuz I'll be talking and I won't be able to shutthehellup!
*sigh*
I'm going to that stupid meeting with a gag......gum....SOMETHING.
A sign maybe?
A freaking billboard attached to me that has a warning sign on it maybe.
I DO have that pin ........
'World's Greatest Super-Bitch'
It's very colourful.......and it would get noticed!
k.
Probably a badddddddddd plan.....
OMG
I seriously gave consideration to wearing that to an administrative meeting?!
Billboard.
The kind I can attach to my shoulders and walk around in.
I know there's cardboard in the basement.....I wonder if we have string.......

Today's Reading

Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forward.--Soren Kierkegaard
Once, in a small village, there was a huge fire. The blaze spread and several homes and businesses were burned to the ground. After a long while, the fire was brought under control and put out. Villagers banded together to rebuild their town, but one quite persistent young man insisted on searching the rubble for the cause of the fire.
Impatient townspeople scolded him, saying, "Why waste time searching for causes? Knowing them won't put out the blaze or repair the damage."
"I know," replied the young man, "but knowing why might prevent other fires."
Sometimes we have to look at painful past experiences in order to prevent their recurrence. When we understand ourselves better, we can move beyond the past and walk toward the future with surer, safer steps.
How well can I use my past today?

Fairy Reading

Native American folklore teaches that the crow is a bird with visionary power whose curiosity sometimes gets the best of her. According to lore, when the crow saw its shadow, it began to stare in amazement. The crow pecked at the shadow. It even left food for the shadow. One day, in response to the crow's fascination, the shadow came to life and ate the crow.
The story of the crow teaches us about the danger of being fascinated with things that are behind us. We are mesmerized by the shadows of our past. We examine them often. We feed our shadows with mental and emotional energy. We can never seem to move beyond the images, memories, and fears caused by the shadows of the past. We give the shadows of yesterday the power to swallow our today.
When she does not succumb to her fascination with the past, the crow, unlike us, has the ability to see beyond the shadow. The crow is an omen of change, with no sense of time. It does not matter to the crow what has happened, she looks beyond the shadow to create what will happen. She determines the path of her flight based on what she can see now. When the crow's feathers are ruffled, she smooths them out. If her wings begin to droop in flight, the crow rests. Unlike humans, the crow has learned how to use her past to determine which way she will go.
Until today, you may not have used the sacred crow energy of vision. Just for today, use the shadows of the past as a mirror. Look for the talents, skills or abilities that you can use to chart your flight forward. Use what you see in the shadows of your life as your encouragement to move beyond an old way of being into a new vision of yourself.

Take a number and stand in line
We have visiting raccoons.I haven't seen 'em yet--but I've seen evidence. *laughing* And the neighbor says so....so it must be true.
Slight problem with the routine, not that Mr. Bunny notices---k......he notices.
Slight problem with the routine, not that Mr. Bunny notices---k......he notices.
Man. I just KNOW I look nuts to the people around me, but raccoons can be a bit mean and messy. So--I wait for Mr. Bunny, quick-like stick the corn out and when he's finished and lazing around in the grass.....I take the corn back in.
YES I KNOW I LOOK NUTS.
So far it's working.
The bunnies are even being polite about it and taking turns.
Now the darn tree squirrel--he's another story.
