Note to self:

I do not know what's best for other people.
I rarely know what's best for me.
It is better to have tired, happier people than rested, resentful/angry ones.

I needed the humility of telling a stressed out group of adults that I was wrong.

I needed to remember that it's better to be a part of than being dictated to.

It's that WE deal.
HOW can I forget that WE deal?
Cuz I can be a dweeb.

Fairy Thought

Don't others see how much I'm hurting? Can't they see I need help? Don't they care?

The issue is not whether others see or care. The issue is whether we see and care about ourselves. Often, when we are pointing a finger at others, waiting for them to have compassion for us, its because we have not fully accepted our pain. We have not yet reached that point of caring about ourselves. We are hoping for awareness in another that we have not yet had.

It is our job to have compassion for ourselves.

When we do, we have taken the first step toward removing ourselves as victims.

We are on the way to self-responsibility, self-care, and change.

Today, I will not wait for others to see and care; I will take responsibility for being aware of my pain and problems, and caring about myself.

Beach Bug

Yup. She ate sand.

Yup. She's bringing me home a shell.....if she doesn't eat that too. *laughing*

Freedom on a String

Brain Break......

I'm a bit blown away.

Confused, maybe?

Confused and blown away I guess.
I'm yet to sort it through.

People are concerned about me. Who's helping me.
I have people helping me. They don't need to be worried about me. I'm worried about all of them.
Genuinely worried.

I know stressors of this nature bleed into all sorts of places. I'm very aware of that. Himself and I have not been warm fuzzy creatures in this whole mess...not even with each other. I know his deal is that instinct to protect 'his'. I don't 'need' protecting. Not sure what I do need--but I'm clear what I don't need.

I watch it bleed into my life--I know it's working that way for others. I ask 'how can I help--what can I do to help you'. I'm always better for getting off of my stuff and going to help others....things get better, perspective happens--I reap rewards when I JUST shush and move on to help others, to care about others, to love them and let them know it matters to me even if I can't change sick 'em.....

I wanna know how to help THEM.
This gal wanted to make sure *I* was getting help......somewhere.

Silly girl.....
My help comes through helping them--a very large part comes through that. And yes, I'm getting help. Tell me how I can help YOU..what can I do to make it easier--cuz it's messy and it's gonna stay messy for a while. How can I help YOU?

She never answered.
She was stuck on who was helping me.

YOU are......by letting me help you.

"That ain't right......."

YES...it's VERY right.

*sigh*
I think I'm the only one who 'gets' me.

Oh man....is that scary or what?!!

B'fast with Mr. Bunny

Things that make me happy...

....baby eaglets hatching. :-)

....finding green things under the leafs on the flower beds.

....polished brass shining in sunlight.

....leaf bugs! Very cool!!

....new batteries in the bubble gun! :-D

....Mr. Bunny comin' for breakfast.

....stormy clouds over there. ---->

Thought for the Day

The greatest contribution we can make to the lives of others is to be affirming.

We can let our spouse, children, and friends know we care about them.

That we love and accept them.

The love that we also long for will come back to us.

We thrill at being affirmed.

And we will thrill at affirming.

It feels good to help another feel appreciated.

Pinwheels and Buzzy Bees

Home for the weekend 101

101 ways to spend the weekend at home.

  • You do laundry.

  • You lug out the plants that have been hiding in the garage all winter and expose them to daylight.

  • You pull out lawn chairs and scrub them down.

  • You drag out the table and assemble it, scrub it and put it in its place.

  • You do more laundry.

  • You wash windows.......inside and out.

  • You drag out more pots--this time empty ones...and look at them and dream a bit....

  • You rake leaves off the flower beds.

  • You watch a ground squirrel dig in the flower bed you just raked.

  • You rake leaves off of more flower beds.

  • You do more laundry--changing sheets is a good thing.

  • You scrub the empty pots you pulled out of the garage and dream a bit more.

  • You dig out the brass cleaner and clean that whirly windy whozit thing that hangs in the garden--the brass one that turned green from three years of NOT being cleaned. (see below photo)

  • You drag out pinwheels and tin flowers and scrub them down....and place them in the flower garden you raked the leaves from earlier--the one the ground squirrel is now hiding in.

  • You feed birdies.

  • You do more laundry..where it all comes from I do not know....

  • You rake more leaves and suggest the ground squirrel feel free to dig in that flowerbed as well.

  • You fix dinner.

  • You go kite flying.

  • You decorate the outside wreath with pinwheel lights and last years buzzy bees.

  • You clean the bathroom.

  • You watch a storm roll in and scatter the leaves you raked from the flower gardens back IN to the flower garden.....which I'm sure worked well for the ground squirrel, tyvm.

And you sleep really, really well. And I mean REALLY well.......

Fairy Reminder

When we become obsessed with how we want others to change, we put our own happiness on hold.
As we wait, hoping and scheming about how to get others to see their many problems, we are neglecting ourselves.
It's almost as if we think it's not fair for us to be happy when others are miserable.
But when we detach with love, we still care, we still pray and wish for the best, but we know that other people's problems belong to them, not to us.
Today let me accept the fact that if I detach with love, no one will die from it.
I'll just be more healthy and happy.

April's Sunset

Ain't just another Sunday....

Bound to be a quiet day.....which isn't an all bad thing.
It's finally decided to be warm enough to venture outside, last falls leaves have decided to cease being frozen to the ground. Snow--gone! (Thank you!! *whew*)

I'm a bit thrown by the interruption of all things 'normal' for a Sunday.

Not that it's bad....I'm just a 'routine' kinda gal. So. You can feel the storm brewing--April showers and all that...

But it's warmed up. The day is 'mine' to do with as I will. And I don't have a clue. LOL

But I will!!!

Eventually....

JUST as soon as I have another peek at the photos the girl sent on. Ohhhh.....Happy Bug--and I'm happy she's happy!! She's met Chip and Dale and Hook and Minnie and Mickey and Eeyore and Hook and Snow White and the Fairy Godmother....and rode the teacups six times. *laughing* The pink one, of course.

TFTD

If we are to learn to cope with our limitations and our life, we must begin focusing on solutions, not just on our problems. But this means we must change our attitude and outlook. We can no longer live as if there are only problems in our lives. We can no longer consider ourselves victims and hold on to the attitude that our life will never change. Nor can we continue to be consumed by self-pity. If so, we will fail to take responsibility for finding solutions. We will continue to live within what we have grown to know so well: our problems.
Do I let my problems define me today or do I seek solutions?

Sam's Place

Fairy Thought

The true use of speech is not so much to express our wants as to conceal them.
--Oliver Goldsmith

Learning to communicate, for little children, means squeezing huge desires into little words, like "hurt" or "cookie."
We learn early that we're only going to get part of what we want.
Some of us never recover from this disappointment.
We use words to manipulate others, to hide our feelings.
We may imagine that we have the power to control others, and so we tell ingenious stories to mask what we think is our naked strength.
But we're deluding ourselves, rather than other people.
The strategy of falsehood and control finally traps us in a web of lies, where even we don't know what we want.
Clarity is a choice, and so is happiness, if we want to choose them.
Asking for something is risky: I might be refused.
But if I don't even ask, I'll never hear "yes."

Esmerelda and Emmet

I'm feeling sorry for Esmerelda and Emmet Eagle.

I mean, seriously.

We started with a handful--a couple hundred people.
And today?
123,789 when I left work.

HOW do I know how many were watching at work?
Cuz I suggested to the teacher that she might wanna let the kiddos watch on the fancy-schmancy white board with computerized capabilities.
So they did.
AND they watched on their laptops. Yes--all my kiddos have laptops.

123,789 people watchin' your eggs every move.

Hatch is imminent today, apparently.
There's wee holes in the eggs--Emmet is way nervous, flitting here and there and bringing sprigs for peace offerings or something. He even brought lunch in as opposed to sitting on the nest himself.
I knew this because of the LOUD commotion when Emmet did his delivery.

NO, I did not go in to watch--what part of "OHMYGAWWWDDDDDD...that's SOOOOO GROSS" sounds like an indicator that I'd wanna watch?!
Sheeeeeeeeeeshhhhhh.

The staff blamed me.
*hanging head*
Yes, I supplied the link. Troubles of my own making....

But!

But we're hatching.
Today more than likely.

:-)
Esmerelda and Emmet are gonna be parents!
How cool is that?

Fairy Thought

In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: It goes on.
--Robert Frost
