Being selective in choosing activities, in choosing
friends, in choosing material possessions fosters
unexpected appreciation.
Too much of any one thing
negates whatever specialness might have been realized.
If we surround ourselves with acquaintances, we never
fully share in knowing a few people well.
 If we surround
ourselves with "toys," we never learn how we really
want to spend our time.

Welllllllll......

The good news is The Bug came to see me just the same.  The not so good news--42 degrees and rain (off and on showers) meant noooo way was Mel getting to go to the pumpkin patch.  *sigh*
And that whole thigh ache that happened in the damp and cold IS NOT THE NEW NORM.
*glaring at the left one*
Just sayin.....

Fairy Reading for Today

I am convinced, the longer I live, that life and its blessings are
not so entirely unjustly distributed (as) when we are suffering
greatly we are so inclined to suppose. —Mary Todd Lincoln

Self-pity is a parasite that feeds on itself. Many of us are inclined
toward self-pity, not allowing for the balance of life's natural
tragedies. We will face good and bad times-and they will pass.
With certainty they will pass.

The attitude, "Why me?" hints at the little compassion we
generally feel for others' suffering. Our empathy with others,
even our awareness of their suffering, is generally minimal.
We are much too involved in our own. Were we less self-
centered, we'd see that blessings and tragedies visit us all,
in equal amounts. Some people respond to their blessings
with equanimity, and they quietly remove the sting from their
tragedies. We can learn to do both.

We are learning new responses, we are feeling and behaving in
healthier ways. Self-pity need not catch us. We can always
feel it coming on. And we can let it go.

Would you eat these?

Omgosh.....me either.

Cuter than cute--they're made for a fund raiser by the lovely girl.

Would I buy 'em?  In a heart beat.
Fact is, I can do that....

OMGosh they're just too cute!

Today's Reading

Being positive some of the time is much better than being
positive none of the time. Making a small effort is far more
effective than making no effort at all.

Even when you are not able to do it all, do some. Even when
you don’t have enough time, make good use of the time you
have.

Though you may not get everything done, you can make
some real progress. Even though conditions are not perfect,
you can work with what you have.

Painting Autumn

Fairy Diddy

Accept that you do not know, and there is no limit to what you can learn.
Let go of the need to possess, and there is no end to what you can have.

Harvesting the Clouds

Things that make me happy......

....the one 'smaller' spidery guy on the downspout.

....a good 'shove' through the park on a wonderful autumn day.

....orange and purple lights.

....the mountain of candy in my tub.
*laughing*  Seriously...it's falling out of the tub!

....making someone else's day.

....being nice to strangers.

....the sound of falling leaves.

Too cute.......but move on Mel......

I do not edit things well--which is why altering a photo is just not something I ought to ever even try.

But it's JUST too cute!!!

I wanna clone it and send it off to everyone I know.

OH!!
I know!!!
I'll have him draw MORE!

Uh huh.....THAT ain't happenin'.....LOL

Daily Reminder

What makes the day great is not what it brings you. What makes the day great is what you choose to do with it.

What makes the moment memorable is not the situation. What makes the moment memorable is the way you handle the situation.

You can make any day a great day. And that most certainly includes this one.

Seeds of the Season

*mumbling*

How much is too much?

Two days in a row.....definitely too much.
I know himself needed to be out and about--he was going nutz as much as I was.  I've tried to get him to leave and just.....go fishing at the pond.....anything, something just for him, to get away from the insanity of all this if even just for a couple of hours.
Nope.
Geeze....the man takes his cellphone into the shower in case I end up in some sort of "I NEED YOU" moment.
It's almost like the first 9 months of this never happened?
I DO know how to do this.  I'm just doing it with diminished energy.

Two days in a row I was stuffed sideways in the car.  Yesterday was an awesome adventure to a paved walking trail around a lake and a stop at a cute little place for some afternoon refreshments and a bit of a rest for the man pushing the wheelchair.  He wanted to get me out/to a park for my birthday cuz he knows me....and that was one heck of a jaunt to make shoving a wheelchair around.
The day prior......oh LORD I don't remember what the day prior was about......*sigh*

I just know I decided two days in a row was one too many.  Which explains the crappy night last night and the difficulty getting comfortable enough to actually fall asleep.  *sigh* At least that's what I'm hoping it was.
Right...
I'll point out to myself that it's now five weeks post surgery.  Things oughta be different by now......
FIVE WEEKS.

Yeah, yeah....I can hear the doc saying 'It's JUST five weeks....'
There's something wrong with my brain--I cannot, for the life of me, put that 'JUST' in there.

One thing at a time.

That's all we have to do. Not two things at once, but one thing done in peace.

One task at a time. One feeling at a time. One day at a time. One problem at a time. One step at a time.  One pleasure at a time.

Relax. Let go of urgency. Begin calmly now. Take one thing at a time.

See how everything works out?

Oh, he's a clever one, that one....... :-)

ROFLMAO!!!!!

Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dead nana, happy birthday to you!!!  (7:35am)
Omg!!!  (7:35am)
Dear!!!  (7:35am)
Welll, thank you autocorrect for summing up my morning!  (7:35am)
*headdesk*  (7:37am)
Omg!!!!  (7:42am)
Maybe this will be one of those things that slip your memory?  (7:43am)

*snickering*

Fat chance.
A.  I'm recording the girl's text this morning--here, for safe keeping.
B.  I'm locking the text and keeping on the phone.....until hell freezes over....

And I doubt himself will let it go for a chunk of time.  He's not a morning person.
And my hysterical laughter woke him up.  ROFL

*Laughing!!!!* And he just texted her that I'm not dead yet, I'm just......resting....  LOLOLOL

OMG....  Heeeeeeerrreeeeee we go! *laughing!!!!!!*

Today's Reading

Positive spontaneity involves freely expressing who we are - in a way that is fun, healthy, doesn't hurt us, and doesn't infringe on the right of others.

We learn to be spontaneous and free as we grow in self-awareness and self esteem. Spontaneity emerges as our confidence and trust in ourselves increase, and we become more secure in our ability to maintain healthy boundaries.

Being spontaneous is connected to our ability to play and achieve intimacy. For all those desirable acts, we need to be able to let go of our need to control others and ourselves and fully and freely enter into the present moment.

Let go of your tight rein on yourself. So what if you make a mistake? So what if you're wrong? Relish your imperfections. Let yourself be a little needy, a little vulnerable. Take a risk!
