Fairy Reminder

How we think about ourselves has an impact on what we do. If we decide that we are less of a person because we have an illness/handicap or problems in our lives, then we may not fulfill our potential. If we decide to let these things consume our every thought and action for the rest of our lives, then they probably will. If we decide that we will always be a victim and our life will bring us nothing but misfortune, then our life may just turn out that way.

On the other hand, if we begin to believe positive things about ourselves, eventually our outlook on life will become positive as well. When we believe that we are lovable, that we can cope with our illnesses/circumstances, and that we are no less of a person because of it/them, then this is what shall be. We can change who we are by changing who we believe ourselves to be.

Today, do I remind myself of my abilities, my choices, and my opportunities?

My attitude and perspective can make life more positive and joyful.

River babble

The river changes as it winds through this part of the world. Wide in parts, deep...narrow and shallow in others. It's its own life-form. It keeps evolving.
It gets angry every once in a while and exits its banks, but for the most part it's a peaceful little river.
Quiet, even as it changes--I think it's lonely sometimes.

Even with all the life in it and around it.
I think it's lonely sometimes.......

Maybe it needs company......

Thought for the Day

How hard it is, how often, to be still and to fully listen to the words, rather than the person. How much more familiar it is to filter the message with our own ongoing inner dialogue - our own ongoing continual assessment of another's personhood and assumed motives at the very time a message is trying to reach us through them.

There really are no wasted words. Messages are everywhere. We can learn to listen.

I will hear just what I need to hear today. I will open myself fully to the words.

Fun in the sun....or not....

9am Friday-- OUT came the youknowwhat....gotta heat up the water so it's 'just right', dontchaknow....*rolling eyes*

Did they run late?
Oh yeah.

Did himself 'suggest' taking down the youknowwhat and putting it away for another day?
Yup.....

Did Mel ignore him?
You betcha....and then tossed her body in front of the youknowwhat any time he even LOOKED like he was gettin' NEAR that it!
(Hey....photos were sent and shared with a very small person--you don't get to go 'round disappointing 14 month olds. It was my phone and my integrity.... ..yeah, RIGHT she'd forget!)
She DEFINITELY owes me....

Was it after 7pm when they arrived.
Uh huh.

Had anyone ate?
Oh no.

Did we get 'em fed?
OH yeah.

Note: Very small people don't mind what time they get a 'paddle' in the youknowwhat!
They just mind that they GET to.

Pffffffffftttttttt! :-P

I love visitors....

I like when they come--I like when they go.

Sometimes the inbetween ain't bad, either. :-/

Seriously--the girl is always welcome.
But geeze......silence is going to be good.

Fairy Reading for the Day

The best things in life are appreciated most after they have been lost. --Roy L. Smith

Humankind has made such great technological progress, developing marvelous tools and instruments to make our life easier, that it is hard to imagine the struggles our ancestors endured. We are so used to these protective and labor-saving devices that we take them for granted. We fail to appreciate them.
So it is with our loved ones, our fellow workers, our friends, and acquaintances. We are so used to the help, the cooperation, the moral support, and the love we get from them that we may take them for granted. And then we wonder why our relationships don't always go smoothly.
What if we were to show them a little appreciation? What if we were to ask God to bless them?
Today I will give thanks for the people around me and tell them, one by one, how much I appreciate them.

Today's Reading

The situation does not create the feeling. You create whatever feeling you wish to feel in each particular situation.
Why are some people happy and other people sad in the same circumstance? Because that is how they have chosen to be.

When you respond the same way often enough it becomes a habit that you follow without even thinking. In this way your feelings come to seem automatic, even though they never have to be.

The way you feel was at some point a conscious choice. And you can choose to change, or let go of, or expand what you feel, or to create an entirely new feeling.

The connection between the moment and the feeling is made by you. Always, you can feel the feelings that serve you best, the ones that pull you toward true fulfillment and happiness.

Your feelings profoundly influence the life you experience, and those feelings are yours to choose in any moment. Choose the ones that give real power to the purpose that lives within you.

Yup......stolen.....

The bitty tomatoes....not the pinwheel.
k....so I mighta just wandered over to look at the apples on the tree the neighbor's threatening to cut down.
Well.....that's half the truth.
Figured if I wandered over to check out the apple I'd be close to the hangin' tomato plant....

What's up with that?!
Puttin' a hanging cherry tomato plant over by the back porch?!

Geeze...you'd think he was guardin' 'em or somethin'.... :-/

*ahem*
Might haffta check out those apples again....

Today's Thought

When you discover that you're feeling negative, you have two choices. You can feel even more negative about the fact that you're feeling negative, or you can choose to turn your thoughts around.
When you've suffered a defeat, you can make it even worse by beating yourself up about it. Or, you can use it as a positive inspiration to turn yourself around and move forward in a more effective way.

This is your opportunity to act with renewed determination and purpose. Turn around, and get yourself going forward again.

I got a prezzie!!!

Kinda looks like the penguiny guy from Wallace and Gromit!

All he needs is a rubber glove chicken hat...LOL

I got a prezzie! I got a prezzie!!!

Fairy Reading for the Day

What's the best thing to do if you can't get motivated to take action that you know you must take? Go ahead and do it anyway.
Sure, it's nice to be positively motivated. Yet even if you lack the motivation, you still have the ability to act.

Even if you don't feel like doing what must be done, you can still do it. Yes, your feelings are powerful, but you are even more powerful.

What if you simply laughed at those negative feelings, and went on ahead with your actions? You already know that it must be done, so you already have a perfectly good reason.

In fact, going ahead and taking action right away is a whole lot more pleasant than agonizing about it for hours or days or weeks. Plus it's a whole lot more pleasant than feeling guilty for not getting it done.

So even though you don't feel like it, do it anyway. Then see how great you will suddenly feel.

Pardon me please....

Just another day.
Just another responsibility.
Just another piece of what you get to do.

Just another irritating interference.
A brief one--but an irritating one just the same.

24hoursx7days=168 hours in a week
0400 to 1300 is a mere 9 hours.
9 hours in that 168 are compromised.
9 lousey hours out of that 168!
Yes, it's irritating.
Yes, it's inconvenient and you've spent a good chunk of your time doing this cuz they've asked you to.
No, it ain't killin' ya.

It's merely an irritating interference.
And it won't be 'forever', even if it FEELS like it already HAS BEEN.

Yup.

Pouting. LOL

This too shall pass.....
I'll pull up my big-girl panties and 'get over it'.

And by 1500 tomorrow--non-issue!
Until it arrives again.....after another 168 hours have passed......
OY brother....

<-- pulling up her big-girl panties now!

From the garden

If something looks to be impossible, look at it in a different way. What you wish to do can be done, though perhaps not in the way you originally thought.

Whatever seems to be blocking you is merely guiding you to be more creative.
Don't let your mind get so tightly wrapped around the problems of the moment that you fail to see the larger possibilities. Know that there's a way to move forward, and you'll find it.

SEE!! You don't have to have bread!

I try and I try and I try to tell him.

G'head and grill hamburgers, I'll figure it out.
Nope--no hamburgers cuz I don't get to have buns.
No hot dogs cuz I don't get to have buns.
NO pastrami cuz I don't GET to have bread/rolls/buns.

Yeah, well....HA!
Himself grilled out while the bug and the girl were here. Yup....hamburgers and hotdogs and chicken breasts cuz 'you can't have hamburgers on their own'.

HA!!
One pattie, one tomato slice, one slice onion....mayo on the side. WORKS!

He shook his head and insisted the chicken was for me.
Oops?
(it got ate, trust me....LOL)

And tonight--since they indulged in pastrami on rye (which I cannot indulge in....dangit all...)--pastrami and provolone rolled up and sliced. NUMMMMMMM!!!!
'you can't have that on its own....'

G'head........ask what HE had for dinner.
Yup. ON ITS OWN.
Well, not in bread anyways.
With potato salad and veggies and dip.

Ask if he liked it.
Yup.
As hot and humid as it's been...NUMMMM!!!!

Pffffffffttttt!
OMG the pastrami was wonderful!!!! :-)

Knee-high to the Green Giant

I'm not crabby...

I'm not really.
REALLY.

k....I'm crabby.

EVERY comment I leave ..... disappears.
*grumbling*

I'll have you know I've narrowed it down to be a system problem and not a Mel problem.
RAWRRR!!!!!

The Moof Monster is eating my comments!!!!!

RAWRRRRR!!!!!!

QOTW 7/6/10

Are you picky about spelling and grammar?

Are you serious?!
I invent words. I bludgeon the language. I misuse words and turn nouns into verbs just cuz I can. And I enjoy every second of it.

k....I own it makes 'he-who-thinks-he-invented-the-language' whackos.
*snickering* That might have somethin' to do with the bludgeoning. I DO tell him 'You mighta invented it but WE perfected it'.....watching him wince is one of my favorite pasttimes. LOLOL

It does get a bit messy when it comes time to professional documentation.
Spell check wants to do a hurried tapdance on the document and fix it all NOW. I, of course, insist on sending it to the secretary 'as is'. She has great fun correcting it and occasionally feels a need to ring me to laugh at something I wrote.
k....occasionally I slip something in there to test her secretarial skills.
MOST times she catches it.

I'm sooooooo glad I do the whacked out, non-sensical sentences with smartie remarks on internal documents. LOLOL

Fairy Reading

Here is an exercise.

Today let someone give to you. Let someone do something nice for you. Let someone give you a compliment or tell you something good about yourself. Let someone help you.

Then, stand there and take it. Take it in. Feel it. Know that you are worthy and deserving. Do not apologize. Do not say, "You shouldn't have." Do you feel guilty, afraid, ashamed, and panicky? Do not immediately try to give something back.

Just say, "Thank you."

Today, I will let myself receive one thing from someone else, and I will let myself be comfortable with that.

Flag bug

Uh huh......

What a schmooze, wavin' the flag with one hand and wavin' "HI" with the other.
Yup....filled up the whole bucket with candy and STUFF that got tossed/handed to her.

Oh she's a quick learner....LOL
