Pardon me please....

Just another day.
Just another responsibility.
Just another piece of what you get to do.

Just another irritating interference.
A brief one--but an irritating one just the same.

24hoursx7days=168 hours in a week
0400 to 1300 is a mere 9 hours.
9 hours in that 168 are compromised.
9 lousey hours out of that 168!
Yes, it's irritating.
Yes, it's inconvenient and you've spent a good chunk of your time doing this cuz they've asked you to.
No, it ain't killin' ya.

It's merely an irritating interference.
And it won't be 'forever', even if it FEELS like it already HAS BEEN.

Yup.

Pouting. LOL

This too shall pass.....
I'll pull up my big-girl panties and 'get over it'.

And by 1500 tomorrow--non-issue!
Until it arrives again.....after another 168 hours have passed......
OY brother....

<-- pulling up her big-girl panties now!

From the garden

If something looks to be impossible, look at it in a different way. What you wish to do can be done, though perhaps not in the way you originally thought.

Whatever seems to be blocking you is merely guiding you to be more creative.
Don't let your mind get so tightly wrapped around the problems of the moment that you fail to see the larger possibilities. Know that there's a way to move forward, and you'll find it.

SEE!! You don't have to have bread!

I try and I try and I try to tell him.

G'head and grill hamburgers, I'll figure it out.
Nope--no hamburgers cuz I don't get to have buns.
No hot dogs cuz I don't get to have buns.
NO pastrami cuz I don't GET to have bread/rolls/buns.

Yeah, well....HA!
Himself grilled out while the bug and the girl were here. Yup....hamburgers and hotdogs and chicken breasts cuz 'you can't have hamburgers on their own'.

HA!!
One pattie, one tomato slice, one slice onion....mayo on the side. WORKS!

He shook his head and insisted the chicken was for me.
Oops?
(it got ate, trust me....LOL)

And tonight--since they indulged in pastrami on rye (which I cannot indulge in....dangit all...)--pastrami and provolone rolled up and sliced. NUMMMMMMM!!!!
'you can't have that on its own....'

G'head........ask what HE had for dinner.
Yup. ON ITS OWN.
Well, not in bread anyways.
With potato salad and veggies and dip.

Ask if he liked it.
Yup.
As hot and humid as it's been...NUMMMM!!!!

Pffffffffttttt!
OMG the pastrami was wonderful!!!! :-)

Knee-high to the Green Giant

I'm not crabby...

I'm not really.
REALLY.

k....I'm crabby.

EVERY comment I leave ..... disappears.
*grumbling*

I'll have you know I've narrowed it down to be a system problem and not a Mel problem.
RAWRRR!!!!!

The Moof Monster is eating my comments!!!!!

RAWRRRRR!!!!!!

Are you picky about spelling and grammar?

Are you serious?!
I invent words. I bludgeon the language. I misuse words and turn nouns into verbs just cuz I can. And I enjoy every second of it.

k....I own it makes 'he-who-thinks-he-invented-the-language' whackos.
*snickering* That might have somethin' to do with the bludgeoning. I DO tell him 'You mighta invented it but WE perfected it'.....watching him wince is one of my favorite pasttimes. LOLOL

It does get a bit messy when it comes time to professional documentation.
Spell check wants to do a hurried tapdance on the document and fix it all NOW. I, of course, insist on sending it to the secretary 'as is'. She has great fun correcting it and occasionally feels a need to ring me to laugh at something I wrote.
k....occasionally I slip something in there to test her secretarial skills.
MOST times she catches it.

I'm sooooooo glad I do the whacked out, non-sensical sentences with smartie remarks on internal documents. LOLOL

Fairy Reading

Here is an exercise.

Today let someone give to you. Let someone do something nice for you. Let someone give you a compliment or tell you something good about yourself. Let someone help you.

Then, stand there and take it. Take it in. Feel it. Know that you are worthy and deserving. Do not apologize. Do not say, "You shouldn't have." Do you feel guilty, afraid, ashamed, and panicky? Do not immediately try to give something back.

Just say, "Thank you."

Today, I will let myself receive one thing from someone else, and I will let myself be comfortable with that.

Flag bug

Uh huh......

What a schmooze, wavin' the flag with one hand and wavin' "HI" with the other.
Yup....filled up the whole bucket with candy and STUFF that got tossed/handed to her.

Oh she's a quick learner....LOL

Wowhasitbeenbusy!!!

Back to back to back people.
Or is that wall to wall?
Wait.
Maybe it's both.

Matters not. It seems we've had a steady stream of people the past few days--plus we've had overnight guests. PLUS (in case ya'll didn't notice) it was Independence day.

Floats got to happen, picnics, parade......all the regular 'stuff'. Well, shoot--except for the fireworks which were rained out. (k....at least it didn't rain out the parade!)

It's just been horribly busy.
And at the end of the day I sleep really, really, really well. LOL
Now. If I could just locate the staplegun I toted with me to assemble a float, I'd be a happy woman!

Today's Thought

Our lives are in process every moment, which means change is ever-present. As new information is sorted and acquired, old habits are discarded. We don't let go of some old behaviors easily, however. They are like comfortable shoes. They may be worn thin, and they probably embarrass us in certain company, but we slip them on unconsciously and then it's too late.
Maturity is an "as if" behavior, initially.Application of the "as if" principle will result both in new personal attitudes and unfamiliar, yet welcome, responses from others. Acting as if we are capable, strong, confident, or serene will pave the way for making those behaviors real, after a time.

When my behavior embarrasses or shames me, I will accept the responsibility for changing it.

TFTD

Once I have learned to set my boundaries, others may try to ignore them or accuse me of being selfish.

I know my boundaries have been crossed when I begin to feel uncomfortable inside, and I need to pay attention to this feeling. If others are used to relating to me in a certain way, and I'm changing, it usually means they have to change too.

They may resist this change, but I'm not here to make other people happy; I'm here to make myself happy. If I don't want to change my mind about a boundary I've set, I don't have to. Other people will have to learn to live with the "new me."

I recognize this new attitude as a sign that I'm getting stronger every day.

Today's Thought

Honesty is always the best policy, right? We glibly recite that saying, but it's important to reevaluate its meaning when we are eager to correct or direct the actions of the other people. If being honest will unnecessarily harm them, perhaps being silent is better.

We're learning to restructure our lives. We discover that many former, automatic responses no longer fit who we desire to be. That means we have to try new, less-practiced behaviors, such as being honest without being harsh or critical.

Learning tenderness is possible. With the help of this program and one another, we are learning to express the acceptance and love that have been given to us by our Higher Power. Giving away what we have been given is sharing the truth absolutely.

I will not hurt anyone today by any comment. I will truthfully share the love and acceptance I have been given.

A bit of paint....

How is it the man possesses such small talents.

I don't mean that in a mean way--he's just good with wee things.
I, on the other hand--suck at wee things.
Which is why I don't touch!
So he put in trees and roads and farmhouses and silos and telegraph poles.
And hills and cows and sheeps....and stuff!
And when he added shrubby stuffs....
Way cool.

I did take a photo of his work desk.
....which he promptly forbade me to post....
*laughing*

Apparently wee thing making requires BIG MESS making. LOLOL

k....breathe Mel......

Change is good.
Different is NOT bad.
It's just.....different.

I don't DO different.
k....I don't do different WELL.
How sad is it to say I LIKE boring and repetitious.

k...maybe not 'boring'....but I do like things to happen in a relatively predictable manner..... ....sometimes? .....unless I'm in control of the unpredictable! Then I'm good with it!
(k.....that's probably a true statement..)

Gee.
The 'putery fixer upper dude called yesterday and told me the fan in the ailing laptop was broken and needed replaced.
HELLO!!!!!!
Didn't I tell him two weeks ago that was the issue?
Oh...that's right.... .....I did.

Small towns....gotta love 'em.

He'll order the part now.

Yes thank you--if you would please.....

TWO WEEKS AGO WOULDA BEEN NICER....but yes please....

I love being without my primary laptop.
Really.
It's not like I NEED it.
I'm functional without it. I mean, we have plenty around this joint....
....oy brother.....

I will not choke the 'putery fixer upper dude.
I will NOT choke the 'putery fixer upper dude.
I WILL NOT choke the 'putery fixer upper dud.

YES I MEANT TO LEAVE OFF THE "E"!!!!!

We can start our day over any time we choose. If we wake up crabby, on the "wrong side of the bed," we are not doomed to a day of gloom. Each minute can be a new reality for us. We can start a new day with just an ounce of willingness. There are days when we get stuck in the mud of depression. Part of us wants to begin again and another part seems to like to dig around in our problems. We might even feel like just staying stuck in the dark side of today.

Willingness to try another way is the start. We can take a second to choose to look at our gray day in a more positive way.

Today let me start over when I find myself glued to my troubles and negativity.

I mighta sorta failed to mention......

I have fuzzy piggie socks too...... Shhhhhhhhhh!

Problem....Solution

That's my kinda deal.
Problem/solution, problem/solution--keep movin' and quit talking it to death. Decide and keep movin'...
I.....am a creative problem solver.

Floppy sandals.
They're handy for getting me there and back.
Heels don't quite cut it with a broken toe dontchaknow.....

And....Fuzzy duckie sock for while at work.
One.
Duh.....only one's broken!
Apparently it's entertaining to the masses....or at least the masses that hang around at my worksite were more than amused.
They laughed.

Sheeeeeeeeshhhhh!

k....mighta been a bit disruptive to walk into the summer classroom and poll the kiddos--did it anyway!
THEY thought the fuzzy duckie sock ROCKED.
They win!

Tomorrow--fuzzy FROG sock.
The kiddos suggested duckie on one, froggy on the other.

I think they should win two days in a row!
And I happen to have one clean fuzzy duckie sock. :-/

Sometimes we take ourselves far too seriously. We draw our lives in the absolutes of black and white, with no shadings of gray. We believe our whole lives depend on every decision we make. When a problem comes along, we see it as a crisis rather than another of the ongoing issues that confront all people. If we are displeased with someone, or if a person is upset with us, we amplify the feelings until we rupture the whole relationship.

It would be helpful to look at today's tasks and problems as a game. Yes, we would like to play the game well, but we could have a good time while doing it. If we don't take ourselves or our problems too seriously, maybe we'll have some fun.

Help me learn that daily living needs the light of humor.
