Holy Cow....Cow

Fairy Thoughts

Many of us have learned to control the responses of others by always being pleasing and charming. Maybe we feel it's better to have others like us than to take a stand. Maybe we only feel okay about ourselves if others approve. Some of us have certainly learned we have a sense of power and control over people when they like us. Many of us have carried our people-pleasing behavior so far that we have really sold our souls for the applause of others.

Are there problems or tensions in our lives from trying to please someone? Is fear of criticism preventing us from taking an action that would be good for us? Have we neglected our inner voice by listening so hard to others? As we get stronger, healthier, we realize that not everyone will like us. Some people will be angry; others, not interested. Once we have faced our own life crises, we are not so dependent on having everyone's approval.

Quilt Barn #28

QOTW 4/11/11

What is your favorite outfit?

How come I can never answer a question, straight up?

There's work clothes--and there's non-work clothes. And then there's "Whaddaya mean I haffta show up for court" clothes...

Levis and the cozy brown and green sweater have won on days off in the winter.
In the summer, it's the denim sundress on days off.

During the spring/summer season for work?

Longer skirts (meaning mid-length) and a sweater top. Comfy as heck and I can do layers--on/off as the air conditioning allows.
Court?
I prefer not to go to court, tyvm.
If I haffta--I'd have to say the black suit (skirt or slacks).

I seem to have this thing for black/gray clothing.
Now there's a switch--used to be greens.

NO it is not a sign of age, tyvm........

Dog Leg Right

What if Fairy

What if we knew for certain that everything we're worried about today will work out fine? What if . . . we had a guarantee that the problem bothering us would be worked out in the most perfect way, and at the best possible time?

Furthermore, what if we knew that three years from now we'd be grateful for that problem, and its solution? What if . . . we knew that even our worst fear would work out for the best?

What if . . . we had a guarantee that everything that's happening, and has happened, in our life was meant to be, planned just for us, and in our best interest?

What if . . . we had a guarantee that the people we love are experiencing exactly what they need in order to become who they're intended to become?

Further, what if we had a guarantee that others can be responsible for themselves, and we don't have to control or take responsibility for them? What if . . . we knew the future was going to be good, and we would have an abundance of resources and guidance to handle whatever comes our way?

What if . . . we knew everything was okay, and we didn't have to worry about a thing?

What would we do then?

We'd be free to let go and enjoy life.

Today, I will know that I don't have to worry about anything. If I do worry, I will do it with the understanding that I am choosing to worry, and it is not necessary.

A bit of sunshine

Today's Reminder

So many of the things we worry about never happen. How much better it is to concentrate our energies on the real demands and challenges of today, insignificant as they may seem.

Peaked

Right.....I was gonna putz.....

Yeah, that didn't work so good.......

  • More pots drug out to the patio.
  • Transplanted the bugglia to a new pot, the poor root bound thing.
  • Emptied out the OTHER huge pot--may the hibiscus rest in peace. This IS the midwest.
  • Drug out the patio swing.
  • Conned himself into putting up the patio swing.
  • SAT on the patio swing. O M G it was heavenly......
  • Moved out the flower boxes for the carport.....this was after removing and replacing the bricks they sit on.....
  • Washed off the screens for the windows and talked himself into putting them in while I putzed around outside.
  • Moved out the other bricks and set the pretty flowering pink bush thingy on it. Yeah, well.....it's one of the few pink things in this house and himself bought it waybackwhen.
  • Cleaned off the patio.
  • Cleaned off the patio for a second time when dirt went willy nilly from tranplanting the bugglia.
  • Sat on the patio swing again. Yup....still heavenly.
  • Had coffee on the patio swing. Even MORE heavenly.
  • Cleaned off the patio for a third time--discovered sand with bare feets, dontchaknow.
  • Scrubbed down the gutters on the carport. Ewwwwww....gross.
  • Graciously accepted the spring onions the neighbor delivered. Yummmmm!
  • Scrubbed down the birdie feeder hearts. Yup--multiples. They hold birdie feeders. I like birdies.....lots....
  • Cleared out the mess in the front of the garage from moving pots outside.
  • Sat on the front porch and had coffee again........sun moved!
  • Scrubbed down the table and chairs sitting on the patio.
  • Sat down and bartered about dinner--quick and easy won, tyvm! And then hobbled off to the kitchen......

I think my body is older this year than it was last year.....

I think I passed the 'putzing' mark about noon-ish.

On the Edge

TFTD

We overlook so many joys, so many hidden treasures, when we hurry from place to place, person to person, experience to experience, with little attention anywhere. All that matters passes before us now, at this moment. And assuredly, we will not pass this way again.

Quilt Barn #27

Right. *growling*

I don't mind getting up earlier. I don't mind being a part of the solution--I expect myself to be that. I mind subjecting others to the 5:30 'start of the day' with ME. *laughing* They DO have the coffee made. I'll give 'em that much!

Fairy Thought

People will react when we do things differently or take assertive action to nurture ourselves, particularly if our decision in some way affects them. Let them have their feelings. Let them have their reactions. But continue on your course anyway.

If people are used to us behaving in a certain way, they'll attempt to convince us to stay that way to avoid changing the system. If people are used to us saying yes all the time, they may start mumbling and murmuring when we say no. If people are used to us taking care of their responsibilities, feelings, and problems, they may give us some flack when we stop. That's normal. We can learn to live with a little flack in the name of healthy self-care. Not abuse, mind you flack.

If people are used to controlling us through guilt, bullying, and badgering, they may intensify their efforts when we change and refuse to be controlled. That's okay. That's flack too.

We don't have to let flack pull us back into old ways if we've decided we want and need to change. We don't have to react to flack or give it much attention. It doesn't deserve it. It will die down.

Feathered

Today's Thought

Growing self-respect includes the ability to stand up for what simply feels right. We don't have to prove anything to ourselves. If we dismiss our own private feelings, all we have left to go on is someone else's idea of reality.

This realm of inner feeling is the realm of wisdom. It is the creative part, the mysterious part, the spiritual part. It is the foundation of honesty with ourselves. In these quiet moments, we are more able to perceive what we know in our hearts. As we grow, we respect and trust it more.
