Thursday's Fairy Thought

When things around you seem too noisy, hectic and out of control, be extra calm, peaceful and patient.
When the world seems a bit too confused and aimless, be extra focused and purposeful.

If there is darkness all around you, there's that opportunity to shine your own light.

Choose to be the difference that makes a real difference.

If some is good.......

MORE is better!

'Specially if they come from a brandspankin'new bubblegun!

:-)

2.5 seconds

Yup.

2.5 seconds is about what it takes to kill a deer going 70 mph on the four lane between worksite A and worksite B.

2.5 seconds.
The deer bolts from the waterfilled ditch and you have nowhere to go with a car in front on the outside lane........2.5 seconds.

The good news is, I did what I've been told over and over and over again.....
I didn't brake and I never lost control of the car.

2.5 seconds.
One dead deer. (yes, I bawled cuz I murdered a deer)
One dead car. (yep, totalled.....)

One safe me--though my back hurts and I'm nursing one heck of a headache.
And I'm really really upset about the deer.....

***Reminder to self***

Other
people's
opinions
of
me
are
none of my business.

Tuesday's TFTD

You can tell people all day long that you really care, and many will still not believe you.
Yet give some genuine kindness on a regular basis and you won't have to tell them anything; they'll know.

Are you strong enough and confident enough to give of yourself out of pure kindness?
Do it.
Discover you are.

There can never be too much kindness in the world.
Create some more today.

No worries........

We're a bit on the flooded side--but we're okay.

Honestly, it's no worse than the 2002 flood that closed the town from folks coming and going.
What's interesting---is all the locals in their cars driving from one point of town to another checking out the water level.
WHY.........I have no clue.
I mean--whadda they gonna do about it?

We're hopefully on high enough ground.
But I can see the lake out of the kitchen window......yaknow.....the used to be fairgrounds/golf course lake?
Yeah, that one.

I was thinkin' about running out and getting one of those sailboat thingies that's got a remote controlled to sail it in our newly established lake--but alas....no comings and goings as of this moment.

The good news is... that package that I put off mailing.....the one that was going to be late arriving?

Yeah, well--'neither rain nor sleet nor hail nor dark of night'.
FLOODS, however.....legit excuse for the mailman! LOL
I'm stealing that one and using it to my benifit. :-)

Reminder to self.......

I had an appointment with the physician Thursday.
.....k.......truth is I was SUPPOSE to have an appointment with the physician last Thursday.
Instead, I worked.
There was a snaffu at the worksite and my body was required.
And the appointment got missed...forgotten, even!

I discovered it on Friday when I had a moment to actually LOOK at my appointment calendar.
This is what I get for not having all my appointments on the desk calendar.
But it's not like I want private/personal appointments hanging out there for the world to see.

Needless to say--I missed the appointment.
No call.
No cancellation.
....No BRAINS!

Yeah, well.....the doctor's office called the house to 'reschedule'.
Now, I ask--how many physician's ring their patient's home the following day to reschedule a missed appointment?!

***reminder to self***
Change the contact number at the doctor's office so calls get made to the private cell phone number to avoid future neurotic messes from neurotic spouses who don't bother to tell you the basis of their neurosis until they've spent three full days being a neurotic MESS!

...umm.....YIKES!!!!!!!!!!

Aren't Sunday's suppose to be peaceful kinda days?
(the answer to that oughta be a resounding "YES")

Really.....most of the day was filled with rain.
Flash flood warnings and flood warnings. (the two must not be confused, yaknow....)

We were prepared for the 3 to 5 inches they were forecasting we'd get.
MAYBE a thunder storm or two..... The chances were 'slim' for isolated thunder showers.

Uh huh......riiiiiigggggghhhhhttttttttt.........

We've been to the basement once already this evening.
Ya go there when it turns ugly.
And it turned ugly...
...and sirens happened....

...and we're under yet another tornado watch until 12am tonight.

Yup. Basement it is!

....k....

Blankie. Check!
Pillow. Check!
Flashlight. Check!
Radio. Check!
Mr. Stuffy Bear. Check! (k....maybe NOT Mr. Stuffy Bear.......)
Cellphone. WHY?! (oh yeah.....cuz it's 'practical'......*rolling eyes*)
......whatever.....check, I guess......

k..........
DEFINITELY Mr. Stuffy Bear. *nodding*

Thammy's happy face

*nodding*

Yeah, yeah......
Trust me when I tell ya--Thammy is a HAPPY thnake!
Yup...he's got a new 'high rise condo'.
Plenty of room for him to stretch his little thnakey tail.

If Thammy's happy......we're happy! :-)

QOTW 6/8

What's on that sticky note that you don't want to forget?

Which sticky note? LOL
I live through sticky notes.
I rely on sticky notes!

No foolin'....I have so many sticky notes that even the sticky notes have sticky notes.

Lemme see---
The ones on the laptop (yes, there are two) list off the times for the girl's flight that she won't be taking because they've extended her time abroad. *crumpling that sticky!*

And there's the second sticky (which is now the ONLY sticky on the laptop) that has the private cell phone number for the high school principal.....which serves as my reminder to ring her some time this weekend about the schedules for next fall's classes for the kiddos at work.
Which I need to do today.......
Now--that's just the sticky note that's in front of me at this given moment.

If I walk into the kitchen.....OMG.....it's like walking into sticky central!

Gotta chuckle though-----cuz I know there's a sticky note to remind me to pick up more sticky notes......

The continuing saga for the girl........

k.......she might be getting more done than work on that little trip to India.....
And yep--it's gonna be a BIT more time there than was originally planned.
And yes........she's finding some time to see the sights.
MOST importantly........
Monkey's happened!

Oh.

And she misses me. :-)
(she blamed that on the monkeys......LOL)

TFTD

It doesn't matter if they're hurting themselves.
It doesn't matter that we could help them if they'd only listen to, and cooperate with, us.

IT DOESN'T MATTER, DOESN'T MATTER, DOESN'T MATTER, DOESN'T MATTER.

Help me to remember just who I have the power to change, today.

The color of purple.....

I'm tired.
It's been a very long week.

Himself asked if I wanted to go out to dinner tonight--
The response was "I'd like to stay home and veg......it's been the week from hell......"

And really-- it's been a longgggggggg week.

Sunday I did frantic work from home from 4pm to 11:30pm....
Monday I repeated the insanity 5:30pm to 12:30 am--and this was after a 10 hour day..... Yup, I was racing from one worksite to another--take care of payroll, get to a meeting, run to another meeting and show up for that teleconference training the boss 'would really like' me attending.....
Follow that up with Tuesday's 13 hour day, Wednesday's 9 hour day with multiple disciplinary issues happening, Thursdays snaffu courtesy of one of my supervisors which resulted in a 14 hour day and today..........Oh, today the boss told me to take off early. LOL

And I did.....after 8 hours cuz I had a bazillion things to attend to before the weekend happened.

Excuse me while I do the math.....

Yup. That's a WHOLE lotta time.

More importantly--that was a whole lotta intense situations that I got to attend to.

I won't even gonna mention the storms that've been going on around here which have made for interrupted sleep three nights in a row. (k.......thinkin' I JUST mentioned it!)

Small wonder tonight--it was 'Pass!' when himself suggested dinner out.

I did manage to put my feet up for almost an hour before I jumped up and flew into the house for my sneaks.

HELLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Mel!?!

OMGosh.....I have soooooooo have mush for brains.......

I managed to show up in time for the Survivors Walk.

I'da had some pretty disappointed people had that not happened.
And I did manage to put four hours into walking around the track before I just HAD to call it good to go.
Mind you--this was after multiple text messages from himself asking me to 'please stop and come home'.
He was clearly using hardball tactics when he made the 'I'm making coffee for you' text happen. LOL

And ya know--honestly......it wasn't the text messages or the coffee bribe....
It wasn't the 'week from hell' or the long hours or the tired body and weary mind that took me home earlier than I've left any other Relay for Life event.

It was the color of purple.

The luminaries with name... after name... after name of those who've been claimed by a disease that I'm graced to have some victories over, today......and it was the color of purple that sent me home, cheeks stained from the tears.....

He's baaccccckkkkkkkkkkkk........

Stiff and sore AND fuzzy......

If there's any doubt as to why basement sleeping with my blankie and pillow happened on a pre-fuzzy Wednesday night......lemme remove all doubts........

Thank you, Trish--

Finish each day and be done with it.
You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can.
Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.
--Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882)

Thought for the day.....

Where there is no strife there is decay: "The mixture which is not shaken decomposes."--Heraclitus

Transitions and changes are often painful, sometimes frightening.
Often the most troubled lives are those most unyielding to change.
When we become so committed to stability that we cannot flow with the never- ending river of life, we wither and die spiritually and emotionally.

Every one of us has changes moving within our lives.

Some changes are beneath the surface and we only vaguely sense them.
Others are obvious and we are dealing with their effects.

When we see change only as a problem or as pain, we have a harder time getting on with our lives.
Looking back, we can see other changes we would never have chosen or planned for ourselves.
We can see now that we grew with them.
Change forced us into new realms, and we found sides of ourselves we hadn't known before.

Things that make me happy

....happy, sunshiney sidewalk chalk drawings (even the photo makes me smile!)

....the feel of the warm sidewalk on bare feet

....a surprise gift of a white bugglia JUST when you'd given up hope of finding one

....yes....ANOTHER new pot on the patio LOL

....calling the sister and having her phone 'bark' at her in church

....the sound of frogs singing at night

....lightening bugs!!
