Fairy Thought

Do what is in the best interest of everyone involved, even when it is not comfortable or easy at the moment.

Long after the immediate inconvenience and discomfort are gone, you'll be enjoying the rewards of the choice.

Am not am not am NOT.....

When he puts his hand on his hip and cocks his head a bit--with eyebrows raised.......I think he's challenging me. So, I defend myself/my position. That's just how I'm made!

I am not a picky eater.Really.I eat just about anything.

Right, except pork and shellfish and flatfish. And let's not forget 'no wheat, rye, barley or malt products'.

Some of that's dietary stuff that's observed, by choice, out of respect. And I'm just a victim of the 'no wheat, rye, barley or malt' deal. ....Really. I'm not a picky eater. Zap a cauliflower--I'm good with that for my meal!

I'll give you the wheat one. What about 'as long as it doesn't touch.....'

Well, if zapped cauliflower is what I'm having for dinner then it ain't touchin' nothing else but the plate--...duh.

Right--'can't touch'...'and can we use the divided plate'--that's not picky.

Nah. That's just about stuff that goes together and stuff that doesn't go together. I'm NOT a picky eater. I just don't like stuff gettin' soggy that's not suppose to BE soggy.

(I got the raised eyebrows and a chuckle with that one.....rawwwwwrrrrr)

Right-no pork, shellfish or flatfish...no wheat, rye, barley or malt...it can't touch, it has to go together according to Mel's rules of what CAN go together and it can't be soggy unless it's suppose to be soggy. Oh, let's not forget texture.....and how it looks....

Well if it looks like baby pooh would YOU wanna put it in your mouth? I mean, think about that--what part of having something the texture of baby pooh in your mouth is appealing?!

(UH oh.....more raised eyebrows means I scramble a bit.....)

You're talkin' about those Indian smooshed up chickpea and potato thingies--I mean, if you like it, g'head. Ummmm...We agreed longgggggggggg ago, if I don't like it, I don't gotta eat it.
(Yup.....scrambling!!!!)

Well, I might have liked it had the baby pooh remark not been made.

SEE! It matters to you how it looks, too! HA!!

AS I'm about to eat it is not the time to give me your impressions.

Ohhhhh.....You'd want me to tell you this after you put the stuff that looked like baby pooh in your mouth....k.....I can do that.

Ohhhh noooooooo. You're not a picky eater. Not at all.....
(this said as balls up the kitchen towel, tosses it at me, shakes his head and exits the kitchen)

I'm........discriminating. I'm NOT PICKY.
(this said as I followed him with the magnetic 'dress the moose' toy I was playing with)
You're just jealous of Mr. Moose's happy mittens!!

(k....really....I am NOT a picky eater.)

Today's Reading

In this life there is much that you can influence, much that you can do, and much that you can accomplish.
Even so, there are many other things about which you can do nothing but accept, experience and stand in awe.

Sometimes the best thing to do with life is allow yourself to feel its wonder and beauty.
Sometimes it is helpful and even comforting to remember that there are things you can never change.

For by acknowledging what you cannot do, you more fully appreciate and utilize those things you can do.
By accepting and valuing that life is bigger than you, your own perspective is greatly enhanced.

Hop.

Hop hop....

Hop hop hop.....

Hop hop hop hop!!

Uh huh.
We're practicin'.

Easter Bunny hopping....

Hop.
Hop hop....
Hop hop hop.....
Hop hop hop hop!!!

I thought it was funny--himself.......mmmm......not-so-much.....

Of course, I didn't suggest that MIGHT be what they're lookin' for until AFTER he answered the email asking for volunteers for the Salvation Army's Easter Egg-Stravaganza for the wee kiddos......

Yup.
Hop.
Hop hop....
Hop hop hop....
Hop hop hop hop!!
He'll make the cutest widdle bunny......LOLOLOL

Or..maybe they'll let 'em be a GIANT Easter Egg!!!!

Whoa...in which case it won't be:
Hop.
Hop hop....
Hop hop hop....
Hop hop hop hop!!!

It'll be more like:

Ummm.......

........gimme a minute...
I'll come up with somethin'......LOLOL

'Zackly!!!!

Oh. Look.

A chicken!

.......oops......

Living in joyful harmony with life is not that difficult at all.
Apparently ONE of us is delusional this morning and I'm thinkin' it ain't ME. Whaddaya MEAN it's not that difficult at all?! k..... Lemme try that 'ohhhmmmmmmm' thing people do, maybe that'll work.....
What can be difficult is getting away from the negative patterns that have become so comfortable and familiar.
Yeah, yeah.....I'll give that comfortable patterns can be comfortable--kinda like routines are comfortable..... Familiar..... Getting out of the comfortable and familiar is uncomfortable and unfamiliar.....LOL Wow.....there's a profound statement. Better I go back to trying that 'ohhhhmmmmmm' thingy....
It helps when you can remind yourself often of who you are and who you are not.
k.....I'm NOT an 'oohhhhmmmmmmm' person.... I am a RAWR and GRRR person!!
RAWWWRRRRRR!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
You are not your problems or your pleasures, and are not the collection of material objects and concerns that surround you.
k.

Oops.......

You are the awareness that can find meaning and bring out purpose in it all.
Uh oh....
You are the experience of being alive and the wisdom that is able to rise above the commotion.
UH oh.....
And when you ARE the commotion?

*hanging head*
UH oh.

*sigh*

I'm messed up.
(well, there's a newsflash!)

k.....lemme try that again.....

This change of hours messes with my routine.
And I'm a routine/discipline kinda gal.

Not that I don't like flying by the seat of my pants and getting tossed in the deep end of the pool. I like that AFTER the routine. LOL
I mean face it--dealing with people means you can expect the unexpected and no two days are going to be alike. There's plenty of chaos during the course of my work day to last me the whole week--routine is good!

Loss of routine........not-so-much.....

It's short term. I'm going in a couple hours early to make up for some staff vacancies.
Which means I'm doing some different tasks on top of the normal 'required' tasks. That's not an all bad thing. I'm a firm believer in not asking the people who work for me to do anything that I can't do or haven't done in my gosh-knows-how-many-years of doing this...
But in earlier and home later--messes with my routine.
Messing with my routine is badddddddddddd.

k.
It's not badddddddddddd...it's just different.

I suppose I could get up at three a.m. to compensate for the changes....

k.
THAT would be badddddddddddddd....

TFTD

The more you identify yourself with the problems that face you, the more difficult it will be for you to get past them. If your whole identity is wrapped up in your limitations, how can you ever be free of them?
There is a part of you that exists beyond every problem, beyond every limitation. Let that part of you dominate your thoughts, your words, and your actions.

Though you will certainly experience problems, don't allow those problems to define who you are. Operate from a level that is above all the problems, for it is from that perspective that you'll successfully transcend them all.

Things that make me happy

....opening windows after a long winter to listen to the rain.

....smoothly polished rocks that fit in your pocket.

....a card from a long ago friend. :-)

....placemat bonnets on wee heads.

....signing the finished tax forms.

....stir fried bok choy with snow peas. :-)

....the thought of lighter clothes coming to my closet.
(now if I could just train 'em to do that on their own....LOL)

Today's Reading

The setbacks you encounter are what they are.
Those setbacks have no choice, but you do.
You can choose to let them pull you down.
Or you can choose to let them provide you with a positive way forward.

Nope---NOT....

I am not upset about losing emails.
Oh, just about three weeks worth.....but I'm not upset about it.

Really.
I'm not.

I am not upset about losing THREE WEEKS worth of emails.......

k....

I might be a tad upset about that one......

Geeze--at least it was personal emails and not work emails?

k.

NOT upset....not. Not even a tiny bit.....

O
M
G

I am soooooooooooooo lying.........

I'm not having a good moment in time.
Ah.....but this too shall pass.

Oh wait!

I KNOW!!!!

I'll do taxes!!!!

What fun THAT'LL be!!!!!!

Definitely the pin for the day....

.....oy.....

I'd like to not worry anymore today.

I've spent time this morning trying to do prayer and meditation--and I keep getting sidetracked.....straight back to 'worry'.

Somethings get to be how they are. I don't have to like 'em. I don't always get to change them. Worry certainly won't change sick'em.

Focusing would be good. On here. NOW. Stop borrowing troubles and do what's in front of you...things will be what they will be.

I don't know how neurotic people deal with worry.
Drives me batty.....

k.....
Today.
THIS moment.
Whatever's in front of me.

Ready.
Set.
GO!

Thought for the Day

How much of your attitude is based on habit and how much is actually chosen? Is your response to any given situation based mostly on what you did a thousand times before?
Imagine for a moment that you could rise to a whole new level of living. Imagine that you could break free from your conditioned responses and live each moment as the unique opportunity that it is.

In your mind, step outside yourself and take a look at your thoughts from the perspective of an objective observer. Take note of all the times your attitude is nothing more than a habitual response.

Remind yourself that you do indeed have a choice. Your attitude is yours to determine.

When it's based on habit, your attitude can be easily manipulated by others, by those who do not have your best interest at heart. In contrast, when it's based on choice, your attitude can be a powerful force working in your favor.

In every situation, choose a positive, thoughtful response rather than a habitual reaction. It can quickly take your life to a whole new level.

QOTW

What's the last thing you ate?

Ohhh.....welllllllll.......
That would be the overdone chicken with tomatoes and onion and olives--cooked to extremely well done.......cuz Mel opted to visit with the friend from Ireland who's visiting the girl.....and Mel failed to tell he-who-does-the-cooking that visiting would happen....so he-who-does-the-cooking made it ready to go for when the bug was returned and not when the bug was returned and the visiting was done.....

Oops.

This would be why the both of us struggled through bits of it, stared at each other and went "nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......".
And this would be why the both of us struggled with tummy aches last night.
And why neither of us is feeling all that grand this morning.

Mel's need to not feel bad.
Himself's need to help me not feel bad.....

So we both feel bad for different reasons.....LOL

Gawd.
Ah well..at least neither of us have to be concerned that it's salmanellea?

Today's Fairy Reading

It is useful and prudent to anticipate and prepare for the problems that may come your way.
Yet it is far better to do so from a position of strength rather than mired in the helplessness of worry.
Look confidently forward and know that you can deal with whatever may come.

Breakfast anyone?

No--placemat instead, thanks.

And tablecloth..cuz.....

No worries--she did get fresh fruit and an english muffin.....and then happily munched away at Cookie Crunch Cereal (post-breakfast).... And then I returned her to her mama.

*laughing!!!!!*

Fairy Reading for Today

We meet the fact that we are powerless to change some aspects of ourselves.
But we can become ready to be changed.
That makes all the difference.
When we accept this truth, we are already changed and we are more in line with nature and the universe.

We can't make ourselves less perfectionistic, but we can become ready to let go of our demand for perfection.
We can't force family harmony into our lives, but we can become more ready to be harmonious.
We can't make a lasting love appear for us on command - we can become ready for such a relationship when the opportunities appear.

Do we yearn for some change?
How might we ready ourselves to receive it?

New Day, New Text

Wanna cranky, fussy baby tomorrow? You could bring her back Sunday after your meeting. She'd love to go to your meeting. She'd love to see Nana and granddad. I'D love for her to see Nana and granddad!

I'm gonna go pick up the cranky fussy baby this morning and we're gonna play. LOTS.
Oh, the hard work us Nana's do.....

I let the granddad know and out came the vacuum cleaner.

I'm okay with that....LOL

Betcha the whole house'll be rearranged when Nana gets back with the bug. And the new toys that were stuck away for her birthday--will be out for the playing. (yeah yeah....more new toys will happen...LOL)
AND--(darnitall) I'll be too busy to do the taxes.... LOL
