Fairy Wisdom

I have learned that, if we set our mind to it, we have an incredible, almost awesome ability to find misery in any situation, even the most wonderful of circumstances.

Shoulders bent, head down, we shuffle through life taking our blows.

Be done with it. Take off the gray cloak of despair, negativity, and victimization. Hurl it; let it blow away in the wind.

We are not victims. We may have been victimized. We may have allowed ourselves to be victimized. We may have sought out, created, or re created situations that victimized us. But we are not victims.

We can stand in our power. We do not have to allow ourselves to be victimized. We do not have to let others victimize us. We do not have to seek out misery in either the most miserable or the best situations.

We are free to stand in the glow of self-responsibility.

Set a boundary! Deal with the anger! Tell someone no, or stop that! Walk away from a relationship! Ask for what you need! Make choices and take responsibility for them. Explore options. Give yourself what you need! Stand up straight, head up, and claim your power. Claim responsibility for yourself!

And learn to enjoy what's good.

Contoured and clouding

Saturday....in the park....

*humming*

k....whiles she's down for a nap, I've got the laundry going.
And dinner being prepared--so we can go.....somewhere!
Of course, destination unknown--that's the funnest kind.

Ohhhhhh....we ARE old people....LOL
k...he's older than me.
*laughing*
NOW I feel better!

Play break

The right idea

pausepausepausepause......

I'll do that before I lam blast the reading fairies with both barrels.....

And since I know in my brain that it's perception and that feelings aren't fact--I'll take the stupid fairies' word for it.

Still wanna blow 'em up into itsy bitsy pieces.
Go figure I might be hanging on to a resentment/fear or two.
Or twenty......

Pause Pause Pause!
Been doing that for better than two hours and it's not changed my desire to toss the book and flip it off.

Yeah yeah......pause LONGER.

Today's Reading

We choose the lives we lead. We choose sadness or happiness; success for failure; dread or excited anticipation. Whether or not we are conscious of our choices, we are making them every moment.

Accepting full responsibility for our actions is one of the requirements of maturity. Not always the easiest thing to do, but necessary to our further development. An unexpected benefit of accepting our responsibility is that it heightens our awareness of personal power. Our well being is within our power. Happiness is within our power. Our attitude about any condition, present or future, is within our power, if we take it.

Life is "doing unto us" only what we allow. And it will favor us with whatever we choose. If we look for excitement, we'll find it. We can search out the positive in any experience. All situations present seeds of new understanding, if we are open to them. Our responses to the events around us determine whatever meaning life offers. We are in control of our outlook. And our outlook decides our future.

This day is mine, fully, to delight in - or to dread. The decision is always mine.

Grandad's Helper

Fairy Thought

Is it really a problem, or is it your perspective that makes it look like a problem?

What if you looked at it differently?

Thursday, October 14, 2010

We hung out on the patio....

She dreamed a bit....
....and watched grandad's bubbles whirling around.

And then she met the punkin gang.

And she hasn't slowed down since. *laughing*

Skyhigh Treasure

Sun's up--new day

And it was a gorgeous sunrise--one of my favoritest times of the day, even after the stupid fairy reading reminded me that I'm forever accountable to live the principles I've opted to adopt as my own:

Honesty
Hope

Faith
Courage
Integrity/Trust
Willingness
Humility
Brotherly Love/Responsibility
Justice/Self Discipline

Perseverance
Spirituality

Service

*sigh*
I don't wanna.....
I shouldn't HAFFTA.

But I will. *sigh*

Best I can..... (there's the squiggle room I tend to create for myself)

I'm gonna go to a meeting this morning that'll talk/plan the fate of the people who have worked elbow to elbow with me for a good number of years.
It's difficult to be principled when emotions are running high--especially when they're 'difficult' emotions.
I have an 'off' switch--I know how to turn 'off' and do what's in front of me.
I just don't trust that I can be that emotionally removed for that long--it's a two/three hour meeting. *sigh*
It IS a fuzzy Thursday......

Persevere, Mel.
It's one of the principles.

So is Brotherly Love/Responsibility and Justice/Self Discipline.
NOT revenge or retaliation--it's Justice/Self Discipline and Brotherly Love/Responsibility.

*sigh*
I can do this.

I'll do this and then I'll pick up the bug and have four glorious days of PLAY.

I'm thinking PLAY will be required........all four days of it!

k.....

Today's Reading

Having principles assures direction. We need not ponder long how to proceed in any situation, what decision to make regarding any matter, when we are guided by principles. They offer us completeness. They help us define who we are and who we will be, in any turn of events.

We have struggled with self-definition. Often we were as others defined us, or we merely imitated those close by. Sometimes we may slip into old behavior and lose sight of who we are and how we want to live. It's then that the principles we've chosen to live by come immediately to our aid.

There is no doubt about how today should be lived. I will do it with confidence and joy.

Paper, Rock, Scissors--- JUST for the record...... *laughing*

Button for the day

The edge

TFTD

Often happiness calls but we are too busy to answer.
--Ellen H.

In the pursuit of happiness many people are too busy to find that which they seek. Frequently the happiness we so passionately desire is found in little events that are but whispered. If we don't pay attention, we miss them.

There can be happiness in the way light falls through the trees. There can be happiness in the way our children call for us by name or in the familiar sight of our home as we round the corner two blocks away. Happiness weaves its way through precious memories and keepsakes that have no monetary value but are priceless to us. Many take enormous delight in the presence of a beloved pet, just the way it looks at us or the unconditional love it pours out upon us. For some, there is genuine delight in the taste of a specially loved food.

We are surrounded by that which can be meaningful and full of delight. The question is, will we be still and quiet long enough to enjoy it?

911

Right.

So--I like smalltown life.
REALLY I do.

Ain't nothing open in this town on Sunday--grocery store included. You plan ahead or you go without...or you prepare to drive 70 miles round trip to get what you need. It'd be a good thing if you REALLY needed it BAD to drive that 70 miles.

It's definitely got that smalltown mentality--folks help each other.
I like that.

I like being away from the noise and the hype and the worries that big city living can create.
I deal with the inconveniences--small price to pay for the rewards this lifestyle brings to me.

I am NOT accustomed to a drawn gun.

I AM accustomed to hunters with rifles and camouflage shirts.....pick up trucks and tractors.

Police officer with a drawn gun......notsomuch.

Gunfire two houses down---NEVER in the 20 years I've lived here.
Police car racing off with it's spotlight trained on the culprit--NEVER in the 20 years I've lived here.

Happened last night.

I'm now afraid to take my coffee on the patio after dark--
As much as I love coffee on the back patio--dunno that I can muster doing that in the dark. Somehow having it with the patio lights on, shining brightly....illuminating anything that might be sneaking on to the property--the ambiance is lacking, to say the least.
I feel a bit 'unsafe'.

Gun drawn.
Car racing off with the spotlight to track .....and potentially kill..... OHmygosh....

k.

Is this where I admit I was feeling kinda bad for the skunk?
The poor little thing.......

NOT that I wanna have coffee with him on the patio.....

Things that make me happy

....Pigpen lookin' combines.

....raining leafs.

....gourdy guys that look like duckies! :-)

....the punkins hiding in the garage.

....the ooky spooky tree I fixed. (*I* fixed hit--HE wanted to toss it..omg!!)

....the girl healing from food poisoning. (k...more like 'relieved' ...)

....new toys and books for the bug! :-)
