Right.
So--I like smalltown life.
REALLY I do.
Ain't nothing open in this town on Sunday--grocery store included. You plan ahead or you go without...or you prepare to drive 70 miles round trip to get what you need. It'd be a good thing if you REALLY needed it BAD to drive that 70 miles.
It's definitely got that smalltown mentality--folks help each other.
I like that.
I like being away from the noise and the hype and the worries that big city living can create.
I deal with the inconveniences--small price to pay for the rewards this lifestyle brings to me.
I am NOT accustomed to a drawn gun.
I AM accustomed to hunters with rifles and camouflage shirts.....pick up trucks and tractors.
Police officer with a drawn gun......notsomuch.
Gunfire two houses down---NEVER in the 20 years I've lived here.
Police car racing off with it's spotlight trained on the culprit--NEVER in the 20 years I've lived here.
Happened last night.
I'm now afraid to take my coffee on the patio after dark--
As much as I love coffee on the back patio--dunno that I can muster doing that in the dark. Somehow having it with the patio lights on, shining brightly....illuminating anything that might be sneaking on to the property--the ambiance is lacking, to say the least.
I feel a bit 'unsafe'.
Gun drawn.
Car racing off with the spotlight to track .....and potentially kill..... OHmygosh....
k.
Is this where I admit I was feeling kinda bad for the skunk?
The poor little thing.......
NOT that I wanna have coffee with him on the patio.....

OMG Mel, I don't blame you in the least for being afraid, because I would too.
YIKES....gun fire!
Even living in a noisey city, whenever I hear a gun shot, it totally freaks me out.
(((( Mel ))))

ironically me & tammy heard gun fire ring out as we unload the car after an eight hour work shift last night. it's nothing like ducking for cover and high steppin' home. city life. ugh...gotta be a better way ;(
maybe we can neighbors...drinking coffee on the patio with skunks can't be as bad....lol
HOLY SMOKES!!!
not very comforting...
or is it?
I just hope it won't take long for you to be able to enjoy coffee on your porch again. Don't let the villians take away your chi!!
Not nice at all, no definitely not nice. Very scary. Your small town sounded so great too; I could live with that but not the gun! Hope you are ok.
Geez, with the startle response, there is no way I could survive a gunshot at close range.
Small town stuff. I used to report the newspaper police report and make up stories about how things really went down. You know, the small town stuff: Man calls police when his girlfrienmd slapped him in the bar for flirting with a wall-mounted deer head.
The weather has been so good for coffe on the deck. I smoked a cigar with my friend the other night and watched that moon sliver.
Poos skunk, just sayin'
Peace.

I hope it all settles down soon enough and you're back on your patio in peace and quiet
(skunk or no skunk)
so, um, were the police after the skunk? I'm confused. If so, the skunk won't draw a gun. And if the police were after someone else, it's likely just a random crazy person. And you can't live your life in fear!
Yah - who is the skunk that is stilling your sense of freedom?
We hear gunfire regularly - just because we live out in the peace of country :) Now and again, in the field out back, late at night, men hunting rabbits with batteries of lights on top of their truck. Makes me cross.
Now with your animal acquisition tendencies, I would feel a bit nervous about the probability of the skunk joining me for coffee and sanctuary. Think I might put a notice out saying 'sorry, no skunks'.
