Quilt Barn #37

Whazzup with that???

I've never worried about what goes up here.
I've not bothered to 'keep up with the Jones' cuz there IS no Jones to keep up with and it ain't about entertaining the masses to gain a wealth of readership. *laughing*

That anyone even bothers TO read my mad ramblings is entertaining in and of itself, lemme tell ya......

And suddenly I find myself pausing, wondering if I oughta hit 'publish'?!
What's THAT about?!

Here is a place for fingers to keyboard--to get out of my head into black and white....to save a few memories and have fun, speak truth, just put it out there in black and white...... To get some clarity. To get some concreteness to the murkied up mess that runs through my head....

Whazzup with the sudden concern?!

Lemme guess--it's JUST another barrier in 'let it look how it is'?! k....that's a wild guess......

*sigh*

Seriously.....even the QOTW is about practicing honesty and self reporting/inventory.
I suddenly CARE about what it's looking like?!

Nah.

k....that was easier said than inventoried.

I'll inventory.
But I ain't liking how it feels/what it's looking like....
Suddenly I get this 'pause' when I'm about to put my fingers to the keyboard and just let it happen?!

That's kinda sucky....

I GET to participate in the lives of others via this medium.
That's a privilege--and it's not like I land places willy-nilly. I land and KNOW that's where I'm to be--or I wave and keep moving cuz that isn't where I'm suppose to land.

But suddenly there's a question about HERE in this pea sized brain with too much STUFF in it?!

k......I think maybe it's the long hours, the stupid upheavals and unpredicted changes that flew into my life months and months ago.
I'm starting to question EVERYthing. And I mean every.stupid.little.thing.

Small wonder I'm starting to feel a TAD shakey about what I THOUGHT was a constant.
But.
But!!
The only one who can apply that stupid thought to HERE....is me.

<-- is in need of some serious inventory takin'.......obviously!!!

Omgosh.....like I suddenly give a care about what gets published here?!
Whazzup with that?!

*sigh*

Pen.
Paper.
Inventory.
ME!!

Gee. There goes 'the quiet night without computer work from the office'!!

Today's Reading

What do you do when it seems as if people want to stay in their pain?
They have a story to tell and they tell you every chance they get.
It may get to the point that they become so entrenched in their pain that they stop looking for a way out.
Well, believe it or not, they may like where they are.
Our job is to leave them there.
You can point the way of out of pain, but you cannot force them to get out.
You can support the move beyond their limitations, but you cannot make the move.
Movement requires learning from painful experiences by recognizing the role we have played. If we continually tell the story without drawing a conclusion, we become the victims of the drama of the pain.

You can do anything you choose to do.

Nestled in Shadows

TFTD

Flexibility means surrendering, giving up your preconceived onions about people, circumstances and the ways things should be. "Should" is a judgment! When you find that you are "shoulding," know that you are in a struggle for power and control. You will not win! When you are not flexible, chances are you will be broken or torn down. Flexibility means seeing the good in everything and being open to gaining an understanding of how things work. When you find yourself fighting to get what you want, to have your way, drop your hands to your sides, take a deep breath and ask yourself, Is this worth fighting for?

Until today, you may have believed that it was necessary to stand your ground and fight to get what you want. Just for today, bend your way, asking the divine forces to show you the way.

Times Three

Shhhhh....it's Saturday and no one knows it yet....

Saved a late emerging cicada.
Found Mr. Toad.
Breakfast out.
An unexpected detour to wander through the park.
Lots of cool stuff in the park...

It's all good!

Well, different than it's been for the past few weekends when I've been chasing my rearend--or other people cuz I need their rearends. LOL

Actually--kinda nice not to be chasing something for a change!

Now--TOMORROW I'll be invaded and have a bazillion things to tend to. But for today--quiet and NO PLANS was a very good thing.
Tomorrow gets here when it arrives.

Ohhhhhh....maybe himself will feel like hitting a dirt road and catching a sunset with the mosquitos!

k....PUSHIN' it!!!

Fairy Thought

When you face danger or frustration, do you regress in age? When as children we did not get our way, when we were not heard, we pouted, stomped and probably slammed a door. When was the last time you turned on your heel or slammed your hands on a table? In an instant, you, an able bodied, competent adult, can become a fourteen year old, a nine year old or a five year old, gripped by the hands of terror. You are regressing back to the time when you first had a similar experience. When you are mentally or emotionally a terrorized child, you must handle yourself with compassion.

When children are afraid, they yearn for a mother, father, grandmother or some other big person to protect them. The same thing happens when an adult regresses. If we feel that comfort is not available, we will do as an adult what we did as a child. We will cry. We will cower. We will run for cover. Adults who regress beat up on themselves. They feel ashamed or embarrassed. They make excuses for their behavior, and ultimately they miss the point. What you did not handle or complete as a child, you will handle and complete as an adult.

We are all little people who grew into big bodies. The challenge we face as adults is to resist the tendency to beat up on ourselves when we act out. Rather, take a moment to soothe and comfort the little you inside of the big you. Do for yourself today what was not done for you yesterday. In this way, you will complete your unfinished business.

Welcoming Friday

When it goes upsidedown....

Right.

Cup of coffee, stack of papers, lots of little scribbled notes.
WHY I don't just bother to open a word doc and make the notes there......dunno....

Dinosaur, I guess? LOL

Gotta admit that my 'little problem' that I was battling turned out to be a bit bigger than 'little'.
Well, little for me, still.....outrageously HUGE when you look at the whole picture.

I haven't had to lift the phone to call my boss in eons--and with him on vacation and me answering to whozitfella......that was fun!

Good thing he's another dinosaur--"Stop the presses, Houston--we have a problem" wasn't met with 'I'm sorry I have no clue what you're referring to?'. LOL
Now, how he responded to the problem....way different than my boss, but that's ok.
I LIKE being the problem in the email to the CEO and the CFO and the Vice President in charge of the whole ball of wax.
It's GREAT fun.
I LIKE that my shop was singled out as the example of the problem......
k......notsomuch--but ya can't give how huge the problem is when you're just discovering it exists, so you give what you know exists.
I liked that people scrambled to fix my 'one issue'.
But that doesn't fix the gaping mess in other places.
Besides--my 'one issue' coulda been fixed another way and will be--I had that one figured out before the phone got lifted and was in the process of arguing to make that happen.
I didn't lift it cuz I needed help 'fixing' my issue.....but boy I soooooo loved being the example for the CEO and CFO!
I did get a nice deal out of their solution!

Notsomuch fixable in other places--that's why I lifted the phone....but ok...thanks much, I'll take that AND chase the solution I was on when I called ya, thankyouverymuch!

I'm just not sure what they'll do (WE'll do, since I'm a part of the 'they') to fix the bigger picture...but I have all my stacks of paper and little scribbled notes AND my coffee cup--and a start on what I'm thinkin' we NEED to do.

Not sure I'll convince 'em, though.
Sometimes people wanna do things different than I'd do 'em.

Ha.
There's MORE than one way to do things.

But as far as I can ascertain from my little scribbles--MY way would be smarter.

*laughing*

I'm bettin' the boss has at LEAST 100 emails lined up in a queue from the first 2 hours of that discovery alone.
I'm bettin' he's gonna LOVE that I was the example for the CEO and the CFO.

Oy........
Hopefully I can get another 100 emails generated in his direction today to bury the first 100.

Yup. LOL I can do that easy peasy!!!!!

Ohlookachicken!

Reading for the Day

Lifetime relationships are a bit more difficult to let go of. When a parent, child or spouse is involved, the wounds are very deep. When the end of a lifetime relationship comes, you may feel that you would be better off dead. The pain seems to grow, the memories linger, a part of your life is dying. You relive every painful moment in an attempt to understand. Your job is not to understand. Your job is to accept. Lifetime relationships teach you lifetime lessons; those things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. They are the most difficult lessons to learn, the most painful to accept; yet these are the things you need in order to grow. When you are facing a separation of the end of a lifetime relationship; the key is to find the lesson; love the person anyway; move on and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships.

A new life begins when a part of life ends.

Fill 'er up

Fairy Schtuff

How difficult have you made your life?
Have you made it hard to get ahead?
Have you created enemies and challengers who are bigger than you?
Have you set yourself up for failure?
What stance have you taken in life?
To what lengths are you willing to go in order to prove the rightness of the stance you have taken?
Have you taken on more than you could do just to prove that you were right about the fact that you could not do it?
Just how hard have you made your life?
How far are you willing to go to prove that you are right about how hard life is?

Life is not hard. Life is a process.
Life distributes itself equally among all living people.
While all things in life are equal, all things in life are not equally distributed to all people.
We are asking here about conditions. Not the essence of life itself.
Some people have a little more of this, while others have a lot less of it.
Some people are given opportunities that others must work to get and others may never get. These are conditions. They are situations and experiences. They are not the essence of life itself.

Unfortunately, there is a tendency to confuse the conditions of life with the process of life. When that happens life itself becomes hard to live.
Life is a process of taking what you have and turning it into something worthwhile.
Your willingness to do this determines the conditions of your life.
The process of living encourages you to leap and to fly, to run and to soar, to meander and to piddle, to embrace and to release.
What you tell yourself about your ability to do one or all of these things at any given time determines how hard life will be for you.

I will not rip anyones' face off

I will not rip anyones' face off.
I will NOT rip anyones' face off.
I WILL NOT rip anyones' face off.

I WILL NOT RIP ANYONES' FACE OFF.

I sooooooo wish I could rip someones' face off and spit down their throat.
NOT that I'd feel better--well......perhaps momentarily IF I temporarily forgot what's GOOD and TRUE and RIGHT.....

What're the odds of that?!

Ha.
Ain't happenin'......

So I don't GET to take anyones' face off.
I even get to STOP indulging in the thought cuz I ain't gonna do it...and I don't really wanna do it....and I wouldn't cuz there's nothing right about it and I start to feel bad for even entertaining the thought to begin with.
But......I can just back into "I'M ENTITLED cuz people are stupid!!!!!"

*sigh*

I can't even stay in THAT line of thinking without hearing WPIML's "of course you are......cuz you're so special......."

Gawwwwwdddddd.

Whatever happened to having permission to think it as long as I didn't DO it.
WHEN did that change to 'whaddaya doing even indulging in that crap--waste of time and energy and not a lick of that thinking speaks to all that you ARE...'

*sigh*

How about I restate the original thought.

I don't get how they don't GET it.
But.....'love and tolerance IS our code'......and 'the rule is hard on ourselves, easy on others'.
So SHUT UP, Mel.

:-/

LOL Gee.....that was fun!!!!

<-- going for ice cream with hot fudge now

(someone said it'd make me feel better....I'm game!!)

Today's Reading from the Reading Fairy

If you are having a bad day, it is a personal problem the world does not have to deal with. If you get up on the wrong side of the bed, it is no one's fault but your own. If it is that time of the week, month or year for you, what would you have the world do? It is never an excuse for being rude, cruel or abusive to anyone, to simply say, "I am having a bad day." It is not appropriate to scream, swear, lash out or do things that have no place among civilized people because "you have something else on your mind." We cannot abuse or traumatize others because we are facing a challenge. LIFE IS A CHALLENGE! Greater wisdom tells us that it does not matter what difficulties we face. It is how we face those difficulties that matter. If we are to grow and reach our fullest potential, we have no time to waste on bad days.

Today is a new day. I refuse to get off to a bad start.
