The picture of fall

Holy cow....

I'm JUST following the instructions....which, in and of itself, is difficult to believe.  HOWever...I am.
Today's instructions included using a heel lift, use one crutch in the house AND when I take my walk (4 city blocks twice daily...yes I'm a wimp.), stick with wearing the brace and use 2 crutches at the worksite/when out amongst silly people, period.

Right...  Add on returning to work full time and physical therapy 3x's a week.
And PT exercises 2x's a day.
And deal with he-who-is-suddenly-free-from-babysitting-yourstruly but is staying home and cleaning eave troughs JUST IN CASE I might need to come HOME.

Holy cow....some things are moving along at a good clip.....and somethings aren't budging!!
It's all good.  Today he raked leaves and vacuumed like crazy.  Tomorrow.....I think there  might be plans to have a buddy come to the house.

HE doesn't know that yet of course.....  LOL

Fairy Reading for Today

Before you do anything, ask yourself a quick, simple question. A week from now, or a year from now, will you be glad you did it?

It may right now seem to be a lot of trouble and expense and inconvenience. And yet it may also be a one-time opportunity that you’ll always be thankful you acted upon.

Will you later be glad you did it? Then go ahead and do whatever it takes to make it happen.

Or, by the same measure, will you soon come to regret what you are about to do? If that’s the case, then find something more productive, more creative, more life enhancing.

The Thinning Out

Ta Da!!!!

This is my knee.  Well, it's not really MY knee--but it's what I have around my knee.  And if you place a long piece up the thigh in front and another strip down the back of the thigh....You have a really funky looking leg IF anyone saw it.  HA.  Only one seeing that leg is me and himself-who-knows-it-intimately. LOL

I decided the physical therapist was bored and just wanted to play when she got out the box of coloured tape.  I had NO clue what she was doing, but I knew I wanted some of that funky, stretchy tape of my own to draw on my leg with.  LOL
I musta had a weird look on my face half way through the process cuz she asked me if  it was getting painful.

JUST the opposite.....I couldn't figure out where that feeling of glass shards being pressed into my skin went to--cuz suddenly it was down to a dull roar.
And I'm talking the nerve pain that has me wanting to rip my clothes off in the early evening cuz I've managed it all day and I can't stand anything to be touching the darn left leg ANY MORE.   It's pretty weird, considering bits of my leg don't feel a darn thing....and bits are confused about what they're feeling and it ain't good.
Apparently THIS funky tape is suppose to help with swelling, muscle pain and nerve pain WHILE it gives you support.  AND it comes in some really wild colours.  No patterns though--leastwise none with Snoopy.  :-/

So my reward for a full day of work with physical therapy tossed in (and mannnn was I bushed!) -- was cool tape on my left leg!  :-)  She told me I could put smiley's on it and shower with it.  I could even remove it if it suddenly became painful.
I have Snoopy Bandaids in the house.
WHY I never thought of putting them all over on my ouchie left leg, dunno.  I must be slippin'........

Today's Reminder

The best response to a disappointing result is more effort. Feel the disappointment, let it make you more determined, and then move quickly to a highly effective state of taking action.

Do what must be done, then do it again and again, and again. Even the smallest action can have enormous impact when repeated often enough.

But how can you get back up when you’ve just fallen down? You do it by reminding yourself it’s clearly the best choice, and then making the choice to act in your own best interest.

Persistence is not always easy, yet it’s not particularly complicated either. You’ve made the effort before, so it’s really not such a big deal to go ahead and make it again.

Night Glow

Here I go.....

Can I find my work keys?
No, but I'm sure I put them in a safe place so they wouldn't get lost.

Do I remember all the passwords for the worksite programs?
No!  But I have a list with them in a safe place....with the keys, no doubt.

And my badge?
Undoubtedly with the keys and passwords.

*sigh*

Seriously.  When people ask me something that I've totally forgotten--I've decided that the answer is grin and tell people I was just foolin' they refresh my memory!
Heck--maybe they even know where the keys, badge and passwords are!  Wouldn't that be wonderful!

k.....
I'm ready.

I've got the keys to the car, a cuppa coffee to go, the briefcase is in the car....and that just leaves ME  :-)
Off to work I go!

It’s just as easy to choose joy as it is to choose despair. It’s just as easy to imagine the best that can happen as it is to imagine the worst.
It’s really not so difficult to find the good in any situation. You simply have to make the decision to look with positive expectations.

Take a step back away from your ego. Look objectively and carefully at the way you live each moment.

See that you always have a choice when it comes to your attitude, your actions, your assumptions and expectations.

Rather than living by habit and reaction, make the choice to live by intention. Decide that it will be a great day, a great year, a great experience, a great life, and then make it happen.

Soon, dangit.....

Fairy Reading

Take what the world gives you and in return, offer peace. Let go of the wish that this moment could be different, and live it as it is, in your own sense of peace.

Make the effort, but don’t make it a fight. Achieve all kinds of great, wonderful things, and achieve them with a peaceful heart.

What good is it if you must go against your own best nature to get what you think you want? Work to succeed not through conflict, but through a peaceful, useful, helpful, loving presence.

When you find yourself thinking angry, anxious, judgmental or fearful thoughts, make the choice to make a change. Challenge yourself to think from a more peaceful perspective.

Offer peace to those around you, and most certainly to yourself. Experience the positive, power that comes from rising above the conflicts.

In the big things, and in the small matters, offer peace to life.

*snickering*

And the saga continues.......

I'm not sure I've done so poorly at the 'no whining' business as I've been led to believe.

There's kvetching.....and there's whining.  I've had to explain this to he-who-points-out-the-whining (mostly cuz I asked him to, and some because he likes being a bit antagonistic on occasions).

Kvetching is a general complaint about anything and anyone. You can kvetch about the season dumping all the leaves in the yard, other people's dumb driving and the table cloth fading cuz it catches the morning sun.
Whining, on the other hand,  is a complaint about anything and anyone that focuses on poor little ol' ME: the season dumping all the leaves in the yard that *I* have to go out and suck up with the leaf sucker-upper thingy AGAIN, dumb people's driving making me late for work AGAIN and once again I'll look like *I'm* irresponsible for not leaving earlier....and the faded table cloth that *I'll* have to replace and everyone knows *I* lovvvvvve to shop...NOT.

I tried to explain this to he-who-thinks-he-knows-it-all.  He assures me the words are synonymous.  Encouraged me to look 'em up in the dictionary, even.

Pfffffttt!  He uses the Oxford one--what's HE know.

:-/

Fairy Reminder!!

If there are two hundred people in a room and one of them doesn't like me, I've got to get out.
  —Marlon Brando

How much acceptance is enough for us? Do we feel one person's criticism undermines the acceptance of 199 others? Do we get so focused on one person's negative response to us that we cannot hear the positive? If we are unable to accept criticism from others, it becomes a sink without a plug, draining away all the positives we naturally have in our life.

As we become spiritual beings, we're able to detach from negative and critical messages. We must still hear them. We must still listen to their messages because we can learn from them. But we can separate ourselves from the negative message. We can make a mistake. Someone can dislike us. But we do not give up our places as equal, worthwhile human beings for any reason.

*banging head*

210 treaters......200 treat bags.  AUGHHH.....  You make MORE, you get less.  You make less, you get MORE.
Darn good thing we had a big bowl of candy in reserve (for he-who-likes-candy).  No treater left empty handed!  Ah.......and it was a good night for the wee ones.  Gosh golly, they were adorable!  Amazingly so.

AND lemme bang my head and repeat what he-who-does-black-and-white said.

"You get to go back to work....isn't that what matters?!"

Ummmm...NO.
YES......but no.

I mean YES--  I'm gladder than glad.
And no.....cuz I think I'm just a tad unsure how I'll manage with some of the pain I get.
But YES cuz I miss people and families and kiddos and doing what I get to do.
But no...  *sigh*

Best plan is to get in there and find out, methinks.
So...calling the boss today to talk about HOW and when and all the details.

Ohhhhhhh....it'll be good!

Fairy Alert!

Life may test us. People may seek out our weak spots. We may see a common denominator to the limits that are being tested in our life. If we have a weak spot in one area, we may find ourselves tested repeatedly in that area by family, friends, co-workers, and neighbors. Life, people, and the universe may be trying to teach us something specific.

When we learn that lesson, we will find that problems with that area dwindle. The boundary has been set, the power has been owned. For now, the lesson has been learned. We may need to be angry with certain people for a while, people who have pushed our tolerance over the edge. That's okay. Soon, we can let go of the anger and exchange it for gratitude. These people have been here to help us learn about what we don't want, what we won't tolerate, and how to own our power.

We can thank them for what we have learned.

Mwahahahahahaha........Happy Halloween!!

Ummm....nope--definitely NOT Kansas....

Daily Reminder

Letting go of the outcome of every experience, focusing instead on our efforts, making them as good as possible, validates our trust in the ultimate goodness of life. Our frustrations diminish when our efforts, only, are our concern. How much easier our days go when we do our work and leave the outcome where it belongs.
