Adventures in Eraser Findings!

One of the places I read today asked me "Honestly, how long are you in front of the computer?".  Today I could say *checking clock* ........about two hours and twenty two minutes by the time I hit the post button--that's including uploading and organizing the photos I snapped today and yesterday (of which there were 238....LOL...I don't do 'moderation' well!)

But we went on one of the bazillion nature trails around here--and tried to find another piece of it and got lost........which is a whole 'nother adventure!

But after a week of hot and humid it cooled off enough to drag 'he-who-ain't-from-the-midwest' out for a short jaunt......the past four days of 100+ heat index just about did him in.  Out and about was a good thing.

OH OH!!
And we found a geocache!!  LOL  All this without a GPS no less!
And you can't FIND one without trading off and logging in, dontchaknow.  So we did!
And NOW I'm thinking I wanna a GPS so we can play along.   :-D

Ohhhhhhh......

I went on an adventure AND I got a ghostie eraser!!!!!  :-)
How cool is THAT?!

Reading Fairy Invasion

There is more to enjoying life than just collecting objects or experiences that will impress others. The most sublime enjoyment is enjoyment for its own sake.

Are you constantly concerned with what advantage you’ll gain from life’s experiences? Then you’ll end up with a lot of advantages but not any real enjoyment.

Pleasure can be nice; yet pleasure does not equal enjoyment, and the pursuit of mere pleasure can end up enslaving you because pleasure chains you to some specific object or condition. If pleasure is your primary objective, as time goes by you’ll need more and more of it but enjoy it less and less.

There is just as much enjoyment to be found in the small, simple, subtle things as in the big, noisy impressive things. Let go of the need to impress or to pile pleasure on top of pleasure, and allow yourself to genuinely enjoy.

You can find enjoyment in just about anything, with no conditions, prerequisites or limitations. Even in the midst of extreme difficulty, the possibility for real enjoyment is always present.

Reading for Today

Here’s a great way to quickly change your attitude about anything and to put yourself in a positive frame of mind. Wherever you are, whatever has happened, in every situation, consider yourself truly blessed.

If there’s something which must be done, that you’d really rather avoid, consider that you’re truly blessed to be doing it. That simple change in thinking can put an amazing positive spin on the experience.

If there’s a troublesome situation confronting you, consider yourself truly blessed to be able to face it. It will help you to fashion your most positive, effective and resourceful response.

Sure, it’s difficult to think of yourself as truly blessed when you’re in the middle of something unpleasant, frightening or frustrating. Difficult as it may be, though, it sure beats the alternative of giving in to despair and negativity.

It may not make sense at first to your logical mind, yet in some very positive and empowering way your spirit will understand. Indeed, you are truly blessed, and it can be a powerful positive boost to remind yourself of that fact. Just do it and see for yourself what a difference it can make.

Fairy Reading

Regrets can never be fully erased, yet they can be prevented. One day soon you’ll look back on today. Whether you look back with regret or with satisfaction depends entirely on what you do right now.

This moment right now is in your hands. Though there are plenty of circumstances beyond your control, those things do not matter nearly so much as the things you can control -- your thoughts and your actions. Though the future is uncertain, one thing about it is abundantly clear. The more positively and completely you make full use of the present, the more positive options you’ll create for yourself no matter what the future brings.

Imagine yourself looking back on today from some point in the future. What will you wish you had done? Now is your one and only opportunity to do it. What will you regret? Now is the time to prevent those regrets.

Rather than setting yourself up to wonder “why didn’t I?” work to put yourself in the position of being able to say “I’m glad I did."

*~* Reminder to self *~*

When the holiday happens midweek and you return to work the following day

IT'S GOING TO FEEL LIKE MONDAY.

It is not......

Write this on your hand so it's forever visible during the course of the day--this way you're not repeatedly hitting yourself ON THE FOREHEAD and mumbling cuz you're not retaining that pertinent information.

Trapped Dragonflies and Mel

I just freed the dragonfly that was trapped in the garage.

He was flying around near the ceiling--as high as he was allowed, and on occasion tried for successful re-entry into his world by banging himself against a window or three.

I know how he feels.
I've been sputtering and muttering, trying for successful re-entry into MY world with little success.
I've felt like an alien invader--watching, gathering all the information and banging my head as I tried to respond to it successfully.

No such luck.
That's feeling true in the 'virtual' and 'real' world.  (sorry....but my 'virtual' world is a huge part of my 'real' world.....which few humans seem to understand, but there ya have it......)

I'm anonymous.
I'm MAllen
I'm M. A.
I'm passwords that are nonsense to those who know me by another name.
I'm invisible......I'm disallowed.
I disappear.

Am I Mel?
On rare occasion.
And I'm not even sure WHAT that occasion is--mostly it's on one or two websites and not on the rest.
Whatzupwiththat?

*sigh*

That loss of identity and the ability to relate effectively seems to exist 'out there', too.
Ineffective--I feel like I'm speaking gibberish....... people are smiling and nodding and not 'getting it'.

Yesterday the girl flipped through all sorts of places on the computer and pronounced me 'cured'.
Somehow I'd clicked something in a place I don't remember being.  But I'm not surprised with that--I decided to 'uninstall' a bunch of stuff that I just never use on this contraption.

Me and the dragonfly are 'free' again.
I opened the garage door--he happily flew away.
I can hope that's true of the problem communicating effectively in 'both worlds'.

FREE from the evils of being who I'm not.
FREE from the disappearing/disallowed act.

Well, that's what she claims.
I've yet to discover if that's true or not.
I'm too busy freeing dragonflies and finding leggos in odd places to really 'land' this morning and test her theory!

WHY there were leggos in the fridge--no clue.......

<-- didn't put 'em there....
<-- said that about the cellphone that was found in the fridge too--so could be wrong!

All that and a purple tractor!

TFTD

One of the "normal" experiences many of us have been deprived of is having fun. Another one is being spontaneous. We may not have the foggiest notion what we would like to do for fun. And we may hold ourselves in check so tightly that we wouldn't allow ourselves to try something fun anyway.

We can let ourselves go a little now and then. We can loosen up a bit. We don't have to be so stiff and rigid, so frightened about being who we are. Take some risks. Try some new activities. What would we like to do? What might we enjoy doing? Then, take another risk. Pick out a movie we'd like to see; call a friend, and invite him or her to go along. If that person says no, try someone else, or try again another time.

Decide to try something, and then go through with it. Go once. Go twice. Practice having fun until fun becomes fun.

Hiding in the shadows

Just another TFTD

When you are busy talking you cannot hear what others are saying. In the same way, when your mind is consumed with thinking and analyzing, you cannot learn what life has to tell you.

The ability to think is a useful, powerful and beautiful thing. Yet like all powerful things, thoughts are best when used in moderation.

If you become too consumed with your own thoughts, you can fail to see what is right in front of you. If you are too obsessed with analyzing every move, you become unable to move at all.

On a regular basis, take a quiet, peaceful retreat from your thoughts. Spend some time not plotting or worrying, not considering or agonizing, but just being and enjoying your own awareness.

Life can be wonderful when it is filled with noise, confusion, excitement and busy, complex thoughts. And those exciting times are even better when they’re balanced with quiet, peaceful times.

Um.....can you say 'house arrest'?

Yes, I know the process well.
The plan is to kill off the bad stuff without killing off the good people who have the bad stuff.

I freaking HATE cancer.
And I hate this stage of the deal.
She's tired.  She's weak in a whole lot of ways.
She's sore and dealing in pain that she ought NOT to be dealing with.
YES--you CAN take a pain pill.....this is why they were scripted.  (we've been over this and over this--*sigh*)

She's already donning a sock monkey mask, trying to stay away from germs the world presents to her.
They've stayed away from the carboplatin the last two chemo therapies because of the white cell count--and tonight it's dangerously low at 1.11--.5 neutros.......and that is insanely low.
I lived on house arrest with HIGHER counts than that--mostly because hospitals are loaded with SICK PEOPLE.
I suggested house arrest.....that went over like a ton of lead bricks.  It's the holiday dontchaknow--neighbors have invited them to drop over dontchaknow.....  She who has difficulties having enough energy to get off the couch most days......
Ummm.....I love you.  HOUSE ARREST!!
(she'll listen.....she always does, bless her kindly heart.....)

I'm here--she's there.....it's the last piece of both courses and it's doing what it's suppose to do.  It's just not pleasant.  And I'm not there to hold her hand and growl at the physicians who are JUST doing what they're suppose to be doing.
I know she has an 'A team' set of physicians.
I trust them with her...

But......

I hate this.
I really, really, really hate this......

I'm thinkin' her hubby and her aren't real wild about this either.......

Shhhhh...fairy territory.....

Things that make me happy....

....crickets chirping.

....Mr. Toad hopping across the patio after a night out and about.

....the noisy wrens in the wren house.  HOLY cow are they loud...

....the calm after the storm.

....counting down the sister's radiation treatments.

....new glue sticks.

....wee T-ball players.  LOL  They're so darn cute!

Fairy Wisdom for the Day

Detachment means "freedom from emotion."
Letting someone else's behavior determine how we feel at every turn is irresponsible.
Our emotions should be determined by us, not by someone else.
But no doubt we have spent years confusing the boundaries that separate us from other people.

Whether at work or at home, we have too often let someone else's "insanity" affect how we behave and how we feel.
At first, it may seem insensitive not to react to others' problems or negative behavior.
We may fear they'll think we simply don't care about them.
Learning that it is far more caring to let other people handle their own lives takes time and patience.
But with practice, it will begin to feel comfortable.
In fact, in time it will feel freeing and wonderful.

I will work on detachment today, knowing that in time the rewards will come.

When the weekend gets away from you......

Punt?
Make it up as you go?
Pull the covers over your head and pretend?

Go with the flow....

Only the flow was 107 degrees in the shade.
So youda thought the answer woulda been STAY IN AIR CONDITIONING.

Ummm....no.
Rollin' on the river!!

The good news is heat exhaustion didn't happen after 6 hours in that junk.
The gooder news is I had the company of her royal Bug-ness.

And the river crown came back famished--and devoured everything in sight.  Thankyou G-d!  We had food up the whazoo....or so we thought.
But boy did it make for interesting moments when you're trying to end the fiscal year, the month AND tend to her royal Bug-ness.

Good thing it's all about the grandad right now.  *laughing*
Wanna go outside?
Okay.....grandad is going outside?
No.
No thank you.

Wanna colour on the sidewalk?
Okay.  C'mon grandad!!

Lunchtime!!
Okay....c'mon grandad!

I'll be jealous that it's all about grandad given time to think about it.
For the moment there's a fishy smellin' muddy mess on the patio that needs tended to before toddling off to work to do those things I didn't get to yesterday.....

ACK!!!!

Fairy Reminder

Profound inner peace does not come from fixing yourself.
It is the result of making lasting changes at the core of the being.
It is the result of discovering that you are already whole.
It is the realization of the true self.
Being human means so much more than you have ever imagined.
It is a divine and wonderful experience to realize that you already have everything you need inside.

It is a relief to discover that you are not flawed.

This truth, when discovered, becomes a powerful flame that consumes all that is not real.
What remains is inner stillness, the wellspring of joy.
This process of discovery is one of the many outgrowths of personal transformation.

Daily Reading

Some of us have gone through life unconsciously expecting others to bring us happiness, to make our dreams come true, and to make us feel good about ourselves. When nothing seems to be going well for us, we blame it on the lack of external support - we're not in a serious relationship, we don't like our job, we don't have the money to venture into our own business.

When we change our perspective - when we know and trust that we are responsible for our happiness, our dreams, and our feelings - we become empowered. No longer is the burden on someone or something that is either unreliable or nonexistent. We'd been giving this power to others; now it's time to take it back, to make and be responsible for our own choices, to value our opinions, and to respect our intellect.

Today I will give myself credit for all I am capable of, financially and otherwise.
