That was after the back to back to back meetings that bled from the morning into the afternoon. I was pretty okay with them all ....until it was my turn with the finance folks.
I don't think like a finance person--that's evident.
I'm a people person--finance 'stuff' ain't my deal.
Only, it's a part of the job.
One of my 'not so fun' parts of the job.
It felt like the right thing to do.
It was quiet.
It was just me and the cellphone(s).
Darn things--of course they both rang while I was trying to steal my moment.
The principal--just wanting me to know how she handled an issue at the school.
The supervisor on the unit--just wanting me to know how she'd handled an issue on the unit.
The girl--just wanting me to know the bug was available for five nights in June while she's off doing a work deal.
And I rang no one.
Not a soul....
I just meandered down the shoreline, inspecting rocks--watching the swifty guys whiz around, snatching up the bugs that skimmed the water's surface....
And I let go of a few things I really needed to let go of.
Things I can do nothing about.
Things I've chosen to toss around too many times in my brain....
Sometimes I hang on to the darnedest things.
And I stumbled upon the remnants of someone's desire to let someone know how loved they are.
Something I've floundered at doing while I've been busy tossing those other things around in my brain.

I need to be really, really careful about what I give my time and attention to.
And I need to take more walks along the river........
