When the storm drops

TFTD

Compassion relates to the ability to see yourself in the position of another, to feel what they feel and to offer tender support, empathy, and understand- ing for what the indivi- dual may be experiencing without seeing them as weak.

Compassion does not strip a person of their dignity, nor does it deny them the dignity of their
process.

Compassion allows you to stand with a person, holding the vision of their
wholeness regardless of the situation or circum-stances they may face.

Oy....

I'm seriously trying not to engage in the Polly Pissy Pants syndrome.  It's getting a bit ify....thought I had it under wraps and then last nights' fireworks happened. Can I walk in the dark to the fairgrounds?  Ummm..probably not safely!  And can I do that in a crowd of people, get to the grandstands and get back out after folks have 'enjoyed' the beer tent?  NOT happening!!!!

I'm so displeased about moving the wonderful fireworks we have to  the Friday following the holiday.  I get why they did it--they've never charged for the almost hour long display--it's run solely on donations, which we'd done every year, faithfully.  Costs aren't going down, that's for certain.  But to shove in a live band, cookers and stands and bouncy tents for the kids along with a beer tent for the adults and THEN do the fireworks display....for old, disabled folks like me--notsomuch a doable thing.

And in a mere two weeks we'll have the county fair--seven days of mayhem with crowds like you would NOT believe......that I won't be attending on crutches of course.

Oh, sooooooooooooo close to Polly Pissy Pants!!
*sigh*
I did a good job on the 4th, but it's fastly fading.
I NEED to figure out my alternative solution. Cuz there'll be people up the whazoo in two weeks and I can NOT be doing THIS kinda attitude.

Oh yes......and then there's the appointments next week for the CT's and consultation/appointment with the doc.

Oh.  And yes--I'm finally going to consider applying for a 'temporary disabled' parking sticker.  Figured I better if we're looking at the next six months being a repeat of the past six months.  I'm getting freaking tired!

Add 'em all up together and that MIGHT be what the Polly attitude stems from.

*sigh*
This will NEVER do.....

And the fairies want me to see this through open eyes?
GUESS where the book is!!!!  Oy......

Squish!

MY agenda...

If I could get a tad less busy--I'd probably be bored.
I use that excuse.  But it's not about being 'pulling your hair out' insanely busy--oh, granted this past week was close with the 4th and all the activities 'looming' around.  But day to day--not the 'busy' of that type.
It's more of "I have my agenda...and it's getting messed with".
Then I get grumpy--but I DO it anyway, shove things on my agenda BACK a bit--and get 'er done.

Really....what's sooooooooo important on MY agenda that it can't be pushed back or simply not done for that day?
And what's with the attitude?

Right.  The 'why' isn't really that darned important.  The attitude in which I DO things that I didn't have on the agenda ..... I S ! ! !

*sigh*
I need to breathe a bit.  Stop planning around a surgery that's NOT been scheduled yet and just show up to do what I'm graced to be able TO do today.
And geeze....I think I PROBABLY need to do it without whining/grumbling?
(I whine/grumble before--not during--but still......)

Joyful Independence

Decorating the Pad

Daily Reading

There's no abiding success without commitment.

Commitment is the key to achievement.
How committed are you to your future, to your goals,
to your relationship, to your self?

Do you want to be healthier, or do you just say you do?
Do you want to be happier, or do you just say you do?
Do you want to be nicer, or do you just say you do?
Do you want to be more patient, or do you just say you do?
Do you want to be lighter, or do you just say you do?
What do you really want...

Seriously? Follow the leader?

Ready....(almost)...set....(ummmm.....notsomuch!)

Every year I say the same thing--

No big deal.
Just toss stuff in the crock pots, toss the rest on the counter/table...and get outta their way!
It's just what we do.
It's just a few folks.... :-D
Easy peasy!

Yup--it's the holiday gala!  *laughing*  And once again we'll be playing 'open patio' to anyone who even remotely looks hungry after the parade finally gets done parading.
I'll hobble.
He'll cough.
And folks'll still show up with smiles and happy greetings.
Oh, and we'll have lots of wee people and lots of food and lots of FUN!!!

And I'll have a LOT of people who'll willingly help me get up when we're finished colouring on the sidewalk!

HA!
(got 2 new boxes of chalk JUST for the occasion!)

Cover Story

Today's Reading

We don't have to give others so much power and ourselves so little. We don't have to give others so much credit and ourselves so little.
We learn there's a big difference between humility and discounting ourselves.

When others act irresponsibly and attempt to blame their problems on us, we no longer feel guilty. We let them face their own consequences.

When others talk nonsense, we don't question our own thinking.

When others try to manipulate or exploit us, we know it's okay to feel anger and distrust and to say no to the plan.

When others tell us that we want something that we really don't want, or someone tells us that we don't want something that we really do want, we trust ourselves. When others tell us things we don't believe, we know it's okay to trust our instincts.

We can even change our mind later.

We don't have to give up our personal power to anyone: strangers, friends, spouses, children, authority figures, or those over whom we're in authority. People may have things to teach us. They may have more information than we have, and may appear more confident or forceful than we feel. But we are equals. Our magic is not in them. Our magic, our light, is in us. And it is as bright a light as theirs.

We are not second-class citizens. By owning our power, we don't have to become aggressive or controlling. We don't have to discount others. But we don't discount ourselves either.

ohboy....

Walking pnemonia OR bronchitus.  Take your pick, apparently.  Not that I like or am convinced the diagnosis is accurate....but himself, having felt crappy since his return WEEKS ago, decided to surrender and see the doc in hopes of feeling better before Ungrateful Colonial Bastards  *ahem* Independence Day.  :-/  What can I say besides "No you may NOT fly the Union Jack OR St. George's flag!!"

I can also say "Great...glad you saw the doc...too bad it wasn't the one you're accustomed to....going back is an option if things don't improve by mid week."

Dunno how he'll feel by the 4th.  More importantly, dunno that there's a deadline.  There are folks coming...well or not, two working legs or not...
Uh oh....we had the Bug for the weekend.
Yes...I will notify the mother.
*sigh*

Above the Tree Tops

Today's Fairy Thought

I have come to realize that all my trouble with living has come from fear and smallness within me.
  —Angela L. Wozniak

We create problems for ourselves because we think we need to be more than we are. We fear that we are inadequate to the task before us, fear that another woman is more attractive, fear that the friends around us are bored by our presence.

Fear hinders us; it prevents full involvement with the experiences we are given to grow on. When we withdraw from a situation in order to save ourselves from failure, we have chosen instead another kind of failure: failure to take all we can from life; failure to be all that we can be. Every experience can move us forward in the understanding of ourselves. When we withdraw, we stay stuck in a world we need to leave behind.

I will not fear whatever looks like trouble today. Nothing I can't handle, in fact, nothing I can't grow from will come my way today. My inner strength can see me through.

Oy......

Seriously--she slept holding my head.  3:30am she's 'hearing screaming--did you hear screaming, Nana?'.  Up she crawls, in she goes 'we're going to cuddle'-- and if holding my head to her belly as she stretches out on the pillow is 'cuddling'.....yup, that's what we did.
5:10am--'bathroom, I need to go potty'.  Right...good time for Nana to rise and Bug to claim my spot, I say!

Man!  She's still got herself all snuggled in with Mr. Bunny and I'm....nursing the third pot of coffee.  LOL  Yes, THIRD.

It's all good.  She'll be in much better spirits for the sleep.
I, however, will remain grumpy.  LOLOL

Hopefully that'll hit later in the day once she's returned to the parental units that have packed up a HOST of stuff--moving is such a chore!

Thinkin' I'll take that last cuppa coffee on the patio now! ;-)
