Reading for the Day

Listening is one of the gifts we give to each other. Listening is also one of the gifts we give to ourselves. As we listen to others and learn from them, we stop thinking we are the center of the universe. Listening to others - to truly hear what they say, to learn from them - helps keep our egos in check. We should frequently ask ourselves, "Am I practicing the skills of active listening?"

I can't comment, I'm listening.
No, really, when I remember that it isn't about me, I can sit and listen, observe, learn, understand, accept, so many things come from listening. Why is it so hard to do? Why doesn't my mind shut up? Maybe a string around my finger to remind me. Thanks Mel and fairies.

Peace

Yup...this is something I had to learn.

Listening.

Because of course, I'm such a YAPPER - HA!

However, I can honestly say that I've become a much better listener with age.

Ironically, listening has taught me more than yapping.

Thanks for the reminder, fairies!

And thank you, Mel, for passing on this reminder!

I wish (echo of the next post) I could shut my own head up when I'm trying to listen to someone else. It would make things so much simpler and more rewarding.
