I was pretty convinced, onceuponatime, that I knew what was best for me (and what was best for the rest of the world, come to think of it...). And I was equally certain that what I believed was BEST was the sure-fire guarantee for happiness.
And then some wisepersoninmylife suggested I oughta give a look at times in the past when my wishes didn't come true--fortunately.
Let me count my blessings even though they're too numerous to count.
I'm so graced that I didn't get what I thought was 'best' for Mel.
I'm equally glad for that fella who told me to 'get off the dime and outta the dessert'.
Not that I liked being told it.
Wisepersoninmylife was telling me to 'run it til the wheels fall off' and there was that kindly fella who was nice enough to point out they'd fallen off and I STILL wasn't moving. (I'm prone to do that on occasion--deny reality and sit and spin. Ain't 'fun', but I can do it just the same......) 'Get off the dime and out of the dessert.'
I was getting pretty thirsty--it was a wise thing to say.
I need to keep ever mindful of what works.
And what doesn't work.
I can convince myself that I well and truly know what's good for Mel.
I've been known to tell myself that in my 'wellness' I've developed the ability TO know what's best for Mel....that was then this is now--so pfffffffffffffftttttttttttttttt!!!!!
*rolling eyes*
I'm better off with my hands out of that till.
Always have been..........I don't know why I'd even BOTHER to suggest to myself that suddenly I've become all seeing, all knowing and infinitely wise enough TO know what's best for Mel.
Plllllleeeasssssseeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!! *gak*
It's better that I understand that the wisdom is in knowing that I don't know.
And in remembering how many of my wishes didn't come true---thank G-d.

it's a relief knowing i don't know what's best for me. i'd be in an awful bad mood all of the time if i'd made some of the decisions i've made even though i knew what was best for me.
g*d I'm so confused
I know nothing
don't know what's good for me, don't know what's bad for me, don't know what I do know most of the time
so, how can the wisdom be in knowing that I don't know
(cos then I'd have to know that)
maybe I could use the word "understand" instead of "know"? this is what I understand: that I don't know. . .
(but I do understand how I feel and thereby the confusion lies, until I realise that that is who I am - the person who feels what I feel*)
(did that make any sense? or have I over complicated it?)
however, I am totally with you and at your level of understanding and explanation on the whole wishes thing
I'm so pleased I don't have a fairy godmother or a lamp
*I don't know if I've explained this very clearly at all. . . see, told you I didn't know nuffin
(and I sincerely hope you're not as confused as I am)
damn
why can't I just say something plain and simple? like: "great post"
I'm afraid I have to settle for suspecting that lots of what I do isn't particularly good for me and hoping I'm not screwing up irretrivably as a result. I think in fact that I am *running it till the wheels fall off*.
And I'm so glad some of my wishes didn't come true!
