The fairies are encouraging 'honesty'.Honesty it is.
I'm not "fine".
Actually, I'm sad--and a whole lotta 'NOT happy'.
I tried buying time and getting perspective.
I bought time--and now I'm buying an air rifel.
Someone's freaking cat decided to detour through our yard.
I wish I hadn't looked up from the counter where I was working--I really do.
I yelled and ran from the house. Himself came after me.
Too late. Cats run faster than I do.
I wanted the cat to drop Mikey the ground squirrel from it's mouth.
That's all I wanted at that moment in time.
That didn't happen.
'It's the circle of life' is no consolation, even if it is true.
Baby ground squirrels now have no dad.
I spent the evening feeling near sick for having watched it and not being able to stop it from happening....wondering if giving Mikey a false sense of security by befriending him contributed to his demise.
Ack.
Getting misty eyed over a ground squirrel isn't good, huh?

:-(
but like you say, the circle of life
(((Mikey's little ones))
i'm so sad now. it's never fun to witness a wild kingdom moment in your yard.
You're in good company. When in his 50's, my dad tried for 3 days to nurse a baby squirrel after its parents were killed. He was extremely sad when it died!
Oh I do apologise for cats (in general and mine in particular).
Hope Mikey's wife can manage.
