We saw Eaglets

One going solo--hard to tell what we were wandering into......

Look close though.....that open water is what they fly south for.

Not to Florida though...LOL.....silly birds.

These flew to, of all places, Iowa.

And I love that they come!

So there, beneath the locks on the river--eagles.
We're talking a hundred or more of them..........gorgeously majestic bald eagles.

Absolutely breathtaking to see them sharing space so peacefully.

They're not keen on each other's company.

But I didn't see one fight amongst them all afternoon.

Darn that they were so darn far away though.

We snuck out of the Jeep hoping for a shot in the distance.

I was rather grumpy that they kept flying past us.

I was so excited to see them....and my fingers were frozen from taking the snapshots.

Back into the Jeep to warm up....grumbling because once again the eaglets were flying over our heads.

I got out to see where they were flying TO......and knocked on the window of the Jeep.

"I found 'em....look behind you........"

In the trees.

*sigh*

I want a pet eagle..........they're just too cool.

We snuck as many shots as we could without frightening them off.

Frankly, I didn't want to leave.

Yaknow--I crane my neck in the car hoping to spy the eagles that live near us every time I drive somewhere.

They're the sign that the day's going to be even MORE special than I expected it to be.

To have over a hundred in front of you....
We froze ourselves over and over again to watch, to capture some shots, to marvel and talk to them. (yes, I started to give them names..LOL)

What magnificent creatures.....

We didn't expect what we found.

But aren't those moments the best?
