Wise tidbit #3

"Religion cannot stand Spirituality. It cannot abide it. For Spirituality may bring you to a different conclusion than a particular religion--and this no known religion can tolerate.
Religion encourages you to explore the thoughts of others and accept them as your own.
Spirituality invites you to toss away the thought of others and come up with your own."

That's suppose to be a dark photo--it's adding to the mystery. LOL

Religion and politics--two things we don't 'talk' in this house. (no mystery to that!)

Well, let me say that different.......they're two things we don't debate in this house.
Himself is 'Church of England'. (news to me......I didn't know there was such a thing--THAT'S how ignorant I am/was in the ways of the world)
I was raised Jewish, with Lutheran and Methodist and Catholic siblings.
There are some things I 'practice' but truth be told, I'm what wisepersoninmylife terms 'an unorthodox Jew'. LOL
Really, he's got a point. I'm about AS unorthodox as one can get when it comes to affairs of the Spirit.
You can believe what you believe. I'm cool with that.
Himself and I don't argue/debate or shove what we believe on the other person. I'm in awe of that--he's a respector of my faith, my love affair with my G-d.
Silly fella even buys me 'stuff' that endorses my faith. Sometimes he just stands and waits patiently as I 'do what I do'. And then he tells me how much he loves me and how he admires me for it.
What's not to love about that?! He's just too darn sweet, dontchathink?
Every once in a while I pick up a 'new agey' book and give a read. I don't know why folks put those 'spirituality' books in 'new age' categories--matters not to me. At least I know where to look. He'll breeze off to the History section and off I'm going to the 'New Age' and Psychology sections. I'm forever locating pieces that make my heart sing. When/IF I ever find a book that validates and speaks to the WHOLE of what I embrace about my G-d and His presence in my life, I'm snaggin' it up by the bulk. LOL I'm weird like that. I'll read, re-read and re-read again when I land a book that's 'got it' for me. Don't ask how many copies of the Big Book I have...I'd only validate the 'buying in bulk' statement.
I'm not around to argue that my beliefs are 'the' belief--what I have works for me. It's taken me a whole lot of adventures to have THIS. But this isn't solidified and built in stone. My relationship with G-d is like every other relationship--it's fluid, it's continually changing and growing and redefining itself.....and it's beyond defining, truth be told.
Some days I know more about what it isn't than what it is......but I'll keep it just the same. It's between Him and I anyway, right?

"Bidden or not bidden, G-d is present."
Was a time that made me nervous. LOL Today--I've not nothing to hide. ;-)

I, Like The View said...

oh that dark photo has me all confused. . . it looks like a chocolate bar with a message on it!

personally I think personal spirituality is more important than following the set rules of a committee, oops sorry Church, just for being seen to do the right thing; but that's a different debate entirely

I also believe in "live and let live", and "each to his own" tho (so wouldn't knock anyone on the basis of what they believe)

he's probably told you this, but the only reason there is a "Church of England" is because Henry VIIIth couldn't divorce and remarry under the rules of the Catholic Church, so - being a King n all - he just made up his own set of rules based on his interpretation of the bible. . .

(mind you the Catholic guys made up their set of rules a few centuries before that, based on their interpretation, I guess)

oops; I don't usually do politics or religion either!

hope I haven't offended anyone

*sidles off in a scaredy cat fashion*
