I had a not so happy moment with the boss this week.I'd received his forward from the CFO (Chief Financial Officer) who'd sent him on the monthly budget report....
......who'd asked that variances be explained to him on the electronic report.
......who'd defined a variance as 5% (or $500) variance from each line item--whether that be to the good or to the bad....
<--checked her budget report to discover that ALL of the line items were (to the good or to the bad) over that 5%..........'cept for one item.....
I believe I was less animated when I recalled the conversation for himself.

I admit--I was riled at work....and I know I didn't present very maturely when I popped off with:
"I am not a bean counter. I ain't ever gonna be a bean counter. And you ain't ever gonna turn me into a bean counter."
k.......there mighta been a swear word in there somewhere..... Yeah. *sigh* I think there was....
Anyway...
Himself did his bestest to calm me down. (k......he made me a really nice cuppa coffee........)
The truth is we're doing quite well (budget-wise) even if I do say so myself.

well, you can't beat BlackAdder as far as I'm concerned, for sound advice and a strong personality
as for the bean counting - money's to be spent on the things that it needs spending on, and if you're over budget that suggests you don't have enough

5% ? sheesh. If I had to explain every 5% variance (to the good and to the bad) I would probably have several not-so-nice moments.
maybe now that all our costume stuff is unpacked you could dig out a "green shade" and those sleeve things that protect them from ink.... a pocket protector...an abucus...a SLIDE RULE!!!! take the beans....dress the part.
