Pinching=Stealing

<-- stolen

Okay...does pinching a piece of growth from a plant constitute 'stealing'?
I think it's 'pinching'.
Himself says 'pinching' IS stealing....

The sister says it 'helps promote growth' on the plant I pinched from.
I like her answer better.....
I think I'll use that one when the officer arrives at my door and asks if I was the one pulling bits off plants from the gardens.

But....I dipped it in the magic white powder and it's three weeks later and it hasn't croaked!
It's one of six that haven't croaked.
I'm not confessing how many are no longer living.......

But I've learned a thing or two about pinching/planting.
Apparently there's a 'time' to do that, and at the start of spring--notsomuch the time for the buddleia's I pinched (but didn't steal cuz they were from my own garden).
I've even learned about 'wounding' a 'cutting'......which I didn't do on the rose bits that I pinched from the neighbor's.

So.
Basically, this little fella is one of the few survivors in Mel's adventure with magic white powder.

So.
Even when I'm trying to give life to and 'help promote growth'--I'm still a plant killer?

This shouldn't surprise anyone......

HAHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

And I agree with your sister - pinching helps promote growth. At least that's what people who have 'green thumbs' tell me.

And btw, your little fella is mighty CUTE!

Hope you had a faaaabulous day, dear lady!

(((( You ))))

Oh my goodness, Mel. This really gave me a smile this morning.
The secret life of Mel, the plant pincher/plant promoter... beware; she swipes and plants.

I am happy for you after all this covert activity that a life has prospered.

Mission accomplished :).

yay! I have been sorely tempted, I must confess, to take a pinch from a plant that does not live in my own yard. No harm, only good - your sister's logic sounds completely justifiable! I don't know much about timing either, but am beginning to see that some of the plants around here are only now beginning to give a growth response to the very warm days (80 degrees plus). So what you said makes sense. Good job Mel!

Lots of stuff that I thoght had died in the winter is beginning to liven up a bit. I haven't any white powder yet - I'll wait a bit and see how many of last years plants survive before trying to get new ones.
but I'm sure a bit of pinching (he's right of course - it does mean the same as stealing but not in plant terms surely?) is good for the parent plant.
