If I give thought to 'the week in review'--I really have no complaints.Oh, I KNOW I kvetch something fierce here.
Here's a place to put some order to my disordered thinking.
Here's a place to sort of settle in--and I let my fingers do the talking. THIS would be why 'sitting on my hands' is sometimes a good plan. I've got years and years and YEARS of training on how to keep my mouth still and 'buy time'.
I've got way less practice in stopping fingers when they get to zipping around the keyboard. And truth is, it's just mighty good practice for me (not the typing, thought that's not a bad thing to practice either) to move the thinking into black and white so I can get a good laugh at how distorted and screwed up I still am. Heck, on occasion I get to feel kinda good about NOT distorted it is. (honestly, it's wayyyy less angry and fearfilled than it's ever been.....that's a really good thing)
I'm getting to live a very full and love-filled life.
And the top of my 'bestest' moments in time this week was the duckie soap.
Yep--89 cents worth of it. (I'm a real cheap date!)
Snagged at the store when we were doing the 'to do' things....duckie soap makes for a better world.
Really--it is the little things that bring me the greatest joy.
The duckie soap.
The note left from a staff members thanking me for having pizza delivered at ten at night JUST for them.
The laughing boss who reminded me, after the room emptied of all the others, of why he 'chose me' to do what I'm now getting to do.
The email from an old employee who simply stated how she missed the work environment that she's never been able to 'find' since she's left.
Himself grabbing me to do a bit of a dance to a song from his more 'youthful' days....in the hallway....still in my coat.
The joy of discovering the mad bug button. LOL
Grabbing all sorts of fun 'things' to put on cards/pins that I'm about to make for my whole crew of people who continue to show up in a very demanding and extremely emotionally draining worksite.
Smooshing a snowball together and tossing it at a 'omg--I'd NEVER toss a snowball at HIM' type of person. *shrugs* I do so love playing outside that box!
That little note one of the kiddos passed me, thanking me for helping her--and the gum wrapped up in it. (yeah, yeah....so I don't chew gum--SHE does.)
'Little things' don't get enough 'black and white' time from my fingers around this joint.
That's why I like this structured time to remind myself.
The nightly inventory I do is two fold--assets/liabilities.
It's a 'discipline' I've been beaten into submission (LOL) to do.
I'm kinda like that...
But when I give myself the luxury to indulge in only a piece of the whole, I'm creating a running record of 'uck' and leaving out 7/8's of my life.
That'd be an awful BIG distortion....

The small things in life, for me, are the most beneficial, the most rewarding, and often are the ones that make lasting memories, and positive impressions, in my mind.

funny, www spent a long time trying to get me to see the benefit of being less black and white - trying the grey for a while
but I see what you're getting at here. . .
whatever proportion of your life you use this structured time for, whatever proportion you describe (from 1/8 to 7/8) it seems so very very full of purpose, so very rewarding and it seems to bring so much to so many other people
and if the reality of that is a fraction of what I think it might be, that sure is one wonderful life
and I'm so glad to be reading about it
thank you
I know this is random, but the left side of your blog posts are getting cut off for me and it makes it a bit hard to read :(
Well, the work environment you describe does sound inviting. Can I come work for you?
I do love your perspective on this. I think I tend to do a little more editing as I go in my blogging. That's fine but I wonder what would happen if I let it all hang out.
Ah...the daily inventory. Keeps you on track, I hope you focus on the positives. and as they say...life is beautiful!
