Sleeping with Bread

The examen, based on the spiritual exercises of St. Ignatius, helps a person hold onto what spiritually nourishes him by looking at what is giving him consolation in his life or causing him desolation.
It allows someone to express his gratitude to God for the good stuff and turn to him for solace for the bad stuff.

*sigh* So much 'stuff'....

I don't think I can put a 'value' on this past weeks happenings. So frequently what I place a value on being 'bad' blossoms into something awesome that I just couldn't see at that moment in time.

The consolation this week--I'm exactly where I need to be......doin' what I'm suppose to be doing, today.

The desolation this week....knowing that doesn't seem to detract from how not so warm and fuzzy that can feel.....

The Brit's 'Mum' had a stroke and I put him on a plane the day after we sent the 26YO back to his homeland.
And so himself and I are separated by the distance.....again.
Even though we knew this would probably happen, even though we talked about it, planned for it and hoped we'd never have to execute it--we're here.

We're separated.

Himself is right where he needs to be, doing what he's suppose to be doing.

And here I am.

There's a house to maintain.
A job to show up for.
Critters that need fed.
'Stuff' that needs attended to.....

I'm attending to the 'stuff'.

The 'Mum' is showing improvement, however--she's had a stroke and some things will need to happen.
What 'things', we're not certain of yet.
It's a bit premature to come to conclusions at this moment in time.
We're still at the 'gathering information' part.
And really, we don't know what we're working with yet.

We also don't know how long this separation will be needed.
But it is needed.
That's not the desolation--this being parted or the undetermined amount of time the separation will last......

It's the knowing this is the right thing to do--and it still feeling bad...

I trust the process.
I trust that things are as they're suppose to be.
I'm so glad he's there with his 'Mum'....being present for her at a scary time.
I'm so grateful we got him there in less than 24 hours...

It still feels.....bad.....

Just because you are both doing what needs to be done and you are both in the right places for now, doesn't mean it has to feel right.
It's hard to be away from a partner and you two have the added stress of no days to count down to the finish line, when you will be together again. Now lets chuck in time differences into the mix and one slip up either end and you could end up not actually connecting with each other for a day or so. Horrid.
I really do hope his mother gets well and soon, so that you two can be reunited.
Much love,
Lia xx.

Oh boy, do I know what you mean about "as it's suppose to be" but still having it feel bad.

ICKY!

I remember the times when I would be separated from my partner every summer.

ICKY!

But in the meantime....

Tons of hugs and love from us.

I happen to be one that is also greatly affected by my feelings. It is part of life to carry on even at times it does not "feel" so great. That fact is one I'd like to live without too.

But when the good feelings come - wow - they are "GOOD" aren't they.

Thinking of you in this time of bad.
I know the good will come again.
Peace.
